Just because you have a history of cancer doesn't mean that you are going to get it either. We all have cancer cells and some are more prominent than others. Has she tried warm milk at night before bed? Does she do things during the day to make herself tired at night? Does she do things that excite her before bed?

I have lost a number of family members to cancer and my dad - who I inherit my sleeplessness from, slept more AFTER he got cancer then before. I never heard that anyone on my mother's side had trouble sleeping and I have lost my grandfather, one of my great-aunts, and a first cousin to cancer. (My other great-aunt also had cancer, but it was just like the last straw of her medical problems since she was in her late-80's, early 90's when she died.)
Althought my father died of cancer (at an age that is only 8 years older than I am now) I expect to die of a stroke rather than cancer.
Makes my friends angry (even my mylot friends) when i tell them I expect to "stroke out" (with a smile on my face.) I, however, think that worring too much about dying and how I'm going to die is worse for my health then not worring about it and having a good idea how it is going to happen.

In your aunt's case, i guess she's just a light sleeper, whereby she can be easily waken up by sound and movements.. it's actually quite normal, a few of my frenz are like that too, and if she really wants to sleep well, she can see the doctor for a few sleeping pills, or, she can really make herself tired out for the whole day, and thus she will be able to sleep well at night^_^
