The person to travel with

When we travel, often times, there are people we prefer to travel with. And others seem to make not as good traveling companions. For each of us, it is different. For some, it might not make such a huge difference with whom they travel with. These situations occur. Who do you prefer to travel with? And who do you prefer least to travel with?

Most of all I prefer to travel on my own then I can choose my destinations, where I going to stay and the activities that I intend to do. I can get up early and go off exploring then go to bed at a time that suits me. I have traveled on my own and stayed in backpacker hostels, without being lonely. I have met travelers from many different countries and I have made a few friends of different nationalities. In the past I went on long trips like for just over a year I traveled around the world and for a few months I went to New Zealand. These days I have to fit visits to a lot of places into two weeks. Most people wouldn't like rushing around so much having such a fantastic adventure. Typically I buy a flight and book accommodation once I am there. I am an independent traveler, not a package tourist. I traveled with my mum and that was enjoyable when I was a teenager or in my early twenties. She is now retired and doesn't want to holiday overseas anymore but I have asked her. I traveled with my sister and that was enjoyable but she in now married with four children so she does travel overseas anymore. I have traveled with my ex boyfriend to the Seychelles and that wasn't at all good. I liked budget accommodation and he liked luxury accommodation. He wasn't into roughing it because he liked comfort. He was scared of the insects and paced up and down all night because the bugs terrified him. We found more expensive accommodation and by the end of the trip nearly ran out of money. These days I travel with my toddler son and getting his pushchair up stairs is challenging. He sleeps in his light weight travel cot at the moment. He loves meeting the local people and they like him too. He is fine traveling on different sorts of transport like a plane, train and bus. So far we have been to Portugal in 2007, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia in 2008 and I am trying to decide where we will go in 2009.

If it is a leisure trip, I would love to travel with my parents, hubby and my sister with her family. It's a lot of fun - though quite a hassle, as my sister's children are very young. The person I least prefer to travel with, on business trips, is one of my colleagues. She nags & grumbles non-stop when she is not happy about something - it disturbs the peace and quiet I cherish. So I prefer to travel alone on business.

I like to travel with my family most. Travel brings us together at least one week per year. We can have fun together. It's a week without television, internet etc. However due to my wife's traveling sickness sometimes I wish I could travel on my own. Trains and airplanes do make her sick and she usually lose half of the fun due to sickness.

On Top of my list would be my family. It is a great fun to travel with my family. Because I can take care of my family and my better half can take care of me. Secondly, if I am required to travel with one of my colleagues or friends, that is also fine with me. I love the company of my friends and we can talk for hours together while travelling. If I am required to travel alone, that would be the most painful experience for me. I just donot feel comfortable travelling alone, though on my way I can interact with fellow passengers, yet I feel I do not feel at ease, while travelling alone.

I'd love to go travelling with my mom and sister because we get along together and there are many things that we enjoy doing together. My father complains a lot, so I guess that would make him my least preferred traveling companion. LOL :)

I know someone is in the same kind of position you are. He gets along with his mom and his sister, which I would assume are his two favorite people to travel with. And I would also imagine his nieces. As for his dad, they don't get along to well. As far I know his dad complains a lot too. So yeah, ... let's just say, your situation is somewhat familiar. Not to me personally, but I have heard things very similar to what you are saying just now.

When i travel, i prefer to do it with my family. Next on the list come my close circle of friends. Its always a good experience travelling with family/friends. I enjoy every bit of it. And i hate it when i have to travel alone by myself - i wish the journey would come to an end as soon as it started.
