can you stop drinking alcohol drinks?

The only way that you will finally stop drinking is if YOU want to stop. Telling your girlfriend you will stop will not work for long, you truly have to want to give up drinking. Once you make that decision you just need to stick to it, just remember why you made the decision. Quit going to the places that you normally drink at, that will help

Well to stop anything takes will power. I am wondering why your girlfriend wants you to stop? Do you drink a lot? It does depend on whether you drink for fun or need. If need then you may need help to stop but if you drink for fun then it is just will power or desire to stop.

I gave up smoking simply by stopping and controlling the urge to smoke until it went away. I gave up for my health so I had a strong motivation. You need a strong motivation to break habits.

I have stopped for short periods of time simply by not buying any alcohol. I did not stop because I wanted to give up alcohol I was just too busy to shop.

I do not see anything wrong with alcohol in moderation. I like a glass of wine with my dinner occasionally.

Hello prince, i want to tell you one thing no one can stop you drinking alcohol except you. Every one who stops you are just trying to keep you away from these things which they feel are bad, but untill you think you should stop drinking you can not. No one can suggest you the way. If you really feel that its bad for you or your health or you relationship, should stop it immediately without asking any one.

If you want to stop it is possible and it has nothing to do with your girlfriend. The key is WILLINGNESS not willpower. Look in your local telephone book for AA and find some meetings to attend. Right now the only drink you need to worry about is first one. If we do not drink the first one we do not have to worry about the second or third and so own. There are alot of posts on my lot about this topic. Some are under alcoholism, alcohol, drinking, and got drunk. Buy an AA big book. Sometimes you can get a free one at your first AA meeting. If you do not like your first AA meeting please go back anyway. Go to atleast 12 meetings before you decide you do not want to good. After several 24 hours of not finding it necessary to take a drink I thank God and AA. For me sobriety is easy BUT life can be hard and sometimes it seems to suck but no drink could improve it.
