I am a bit disappointed with the hollywood version because for me it did not capture the magnet and the kind of magic the korean movie had on me.

This is actually a remake of a popular Korean Movie "IL Mare" and one of the respondents is right that the original Korean movie is starred by Jun Ji Hyun the Actress who also starred in the "Original" My Sassy Girl movie in kOrea. I haven't watched the Lake House but I didn't even bother because Maybe I could be disappointed with the movie because i love the original so much.

It's is a love story between Kate and Alex, they write any letters left in the mailbox of this house, and they communicate only with them, they can't met each other because they lives at a distance of space and time of two years! She lives in 2006 and he lives in 2004.
Kate gives an appointment in 2006 to Alex but he don't go to her and she don't write letters to him anymore,and she go to to live with his ex. Found a new home for renovation, they go to an architect who is the brother of Alex. Kate asks about Alex and discovers who died 2 years earlier because Kate is in 2008. She understand why that day, two years before, she didn't saw Alex to the appointment, and so he went to the house on the lake. She send a letter in which he expresses all his love and her affection for him and ordered to not cross that road that would have caused death. Read the letter in time Alex does not cross that road and, as a notice of Kate, he reach of the house on the lake 2 years later, when will live their love story.
