It certainly can't hurt. Communication is the most important part of any marriage. The fact is, if he is cheating and has been all this time, it may not be a marriage worth saving. Staying for the kids is not a good idea. My mom stayed for us when my dad was abusive and it just made us more afraid and anxious. We wish she had left.

But definitely sitting down and talking, even if it's at a restaurant so a big fight doesn't start (argument), is a start. The two aren't getting along for a reason. It may be something that can be fixed. It may not be. But not talking about it won't help.

I have been married for almost 25 years and, when things get tense and we find we're snapping and not being nice to each other, I usually stop everything and say we need to talk. Usually we can communicate well enough to talk out our differences and things get better.

In your friend's case, she has nothing to lose by communicating and finding out what's on her hubby's mind. If he won't talk, then she's got to decide what to do next.

I think that the things can still be brought to the talks and the breakage can be avoided for the sake of the kids. If both partners have any doubt over others it can be resolved. I think those parents who can not sacrifice their ego for the kids they produced they should be dealt with strictness and should be made to suffer. Why the innocent children should suffer because of their nonsense.
