Have You Ever Had A Very Close Friend (Or Another Loved One)

find out that they may be facing a very serious illness? I've just found out on Friday, that a very dear friend of mine, is in such a situation. She came down with a bad cold, and when she couldn't get rid of it, she went to a clinic. The first doctor wasn't much help, and so she ended up going back again, a few days later. This time, she saw a different doctor. He prescribed antibiotics, but when she described her symptoms to him, he ordered a chest x-ray. She got the results back the very same day, and there's a spot on her right lung. She's now waiting for an appointment to have a catscan. This friend had an almost fatal case of leukemia, back when she was in her twenties. She's now in her fifties, as I am. She's been told by doctors, that once a person suffers from 'any type' of cancer, there's a strong possibility that another kind can occur. This is not new information for her, or for me, for that matter. She's very upset and worried, and I am really concerned for her. I'd appreciate you keeping her in your thoughts and prayers. Her name is Barb. I seem to be hearing of more and more serious health problems these days. Do you think these problems are increasing? If so, what do you think is causing this? What do you think can be done to prevent these types of problems?

If only there was a way to put an end to all illness, but the best we can hope for is early diagnosis, and successful treatment. I'm sorry to hear about your grandparents, and hope that they continue to do well. Thanks for sharing here.

Hi there Mom I am so sorry to hear this and I will keep her in my thoughts and hope that it is not the dreaded C I know when I had a Shadow on my Lungs a couple of years ago it turned out that it was an Infection that had not been detected, but it was scary going through the Tests I had Pneumonia about 17 years ago, a bad case and they think that is why I am so prone now to Lung Infections and they also think that has weakened my Lungs more to the risk of getting COPD and Emphasimia at a young age I really hope that she will be ok and please let me know I keep her in my thoughts Big Hugs

Thanks gabs. I was talking with Barb on Tuesday on the phone, and she was quite upset. I was anxious to hear if her cat scan had been booked, as she'd been waiting for the call. Guess what? Somebody lost the order that was sent through for the test to be booked. Unbelievable! It's a good thing she phoned the doctor's office, when she hadn't heard anything. Now they have to speak to this doctor, to make sure he actually ordered the cat scan. :( What nonsense! Here she's been so worried, and had no idea this wasn't even being set up. I'll let you know how things go, once she 'finally' has her test. I know you're there for me, and it means so much. I'll be in touch with an update soon. Maybe one of these days, we can actually talk on the phone. I still haven't got my plan changed over yet, as it may mean I won't have my little bit of extra cash each month. I'll have to look into this. Love and hugs to you.

Hi gabs, I'm so sorry that it's taken me so long to get back here. Some days I barely have the energy (even to myLot), although I really want to. I think you understand this feeling. So much going on lately. Thanks for your support for Barb. She's still waiting for the cat scan to be booked. I know there are other things this could be, besides 'C,' but it's scary just the same. You've been through so much, and I admire the way you've endured, and yet you're one of the most caring people I've ever 'met.' I do hope you're doing well. Take care. Big Hugs to you.

YIKES! That's scary. Your loved one is in my prayers. I have had friends die, mostly of old age or in accidents, but I don't recal anything this serious happening. My mother, sister, and brother-in-law have lupus, but they have it under control, and are getting the proper treatment for it. I should watch out for it too, in the next few years to see that I get treated, if I should get it.

Hi danishcanadian, I'm sorry to hear that there's lupus in your family. I really don't know much about this disease, only that it can be very serious. Thanks so much for sharing, and for the prayers for Barb. She's still waiting for the cat scan to be booked. Take care.

Hi Feona, I'm so sorry it's taken me so long to respond here. I don't know how I missed this. Too much going on lately, I guess. Your husband and my friend are true miracles. As far as I know, Barbs cat scan hasn't been booked yet. Thanks so much for your support. No wonder you worry about your husband. These things are so hard to deal with. Take care, and hugs to you too.

It seems as we get older we hear of this more and more often. While young, the chances of this happening isn't as great. Or, we are just so wrapped up in ourselves when young that we don't hear it. I'm 49, and I've lost several family members to cancer. Unfortunately I've dealt with serious illness my whole life. And while I don't have anything fatal at the moment I am disabled with multiple health issues. I hope your friend does ok with the tests, and that if cancer they can deal with it quickly. I lost my mom last year to lung, bone, and liver cancer. Good luck to you and your friend.

Thanks so much for sharing here, and for your kind words. I'm very sorry to hear about your mom, and about your health struggles. I have several health issues as well, and have lost a number of close family members to serious illness, over the years. Take care.

Yes, serious illness is on the rise as our air, soil, water, and food sources become increasingly contaminated with toxins of all sorts. When you do the homework it is down right scary to find the truth behind the labels (if they have labels). I would suggest a trip to the Natural food store for some immunity health support. They have herbs that help with specific types of disease. I know I cured my diabetes with chromium picolinate. I am unsure of the specific herbs, minerals, whole food supplements that can help your friend. If you do your homework I am sure you will find some good resources.I have heard of tumors shrinking (disappearing) and there is hope. God gave us all the seed bearing plants to use. Plants are medicine as well as food. Have Faith there are solutions to problems just waiting to be discovered. God Bless...

Thanks so much for sharing here, Annamcarra. There is a wealth of information out there, if we'll only tap into it. I agree that it's really scary, the way everything seems to be getting contaminated. So different from when I was young. Take care.

Its expensive to eat properly and we live in a polluted world. It is also about genetics. Most of us do not have enough organic foods in our diets. Most of us do not get the amount of rest our bodies need, we are in a fast paced lifestyle. Everything that we touch or drink and eat has been chemicaly treated and over a period of time , it all does damge to our cells. Many people are also vitamin defecient and have too much stress in their life. Stress brings on many forms of illness.

Thanks for your insights here, eaforeman. Unfortunately, all of what you've stated is all too true. Although there was serious illness around when I was a kid, it just seems to be everywhere these days. Young and old alike are affected. My family doesn't have the greatest gene pool, concerning health issues, so I have to be extra vigilant, keeping up with medical appointments etc., as best I can. Thanks so much for your response.
