what is the right age to buy a mobile phone for a kid

children in today's life start playing with old mobile phones since they are 1 year old and then they start to want one too.someone can tell me what is the right age to buy them a mobile phone just for them

I will by my son a mobile phone when he is a teenager and gets to go out on his own. He is only 8 yrs old and asked me several times to buy him one. I don't think that it is wise to buy him one at this moment.

I think the right time to give a kid a cellphone is when they are old enough to understand the responsibilities of having one. Most children don't really know what the phones are for and just play around with them, as if it was a toy. If they understand the responsibility of owning one, then you could buy them one. When I got my first phone, I was around 11 years old. That was 9 years ago when phones weren't too popular yet. My parents made sure that I was ready to own a phone before they bought me one.
