Do you constantly suffer with low self-esteem? Are you continuously dragging your feet through the battle of life? Do tears begin to flow when you see no light at the end of the tunnel? How do you cope? How do you pick yourself up? For myself, this has been a constant battle! I have suffered with depression in the past and my self-esteem hasn't been up to scratch! I used to constantly adopt the "woe is me" attitude. I would sit in my chair, weep, think suicidal thoughts and research the Internet on how best to end things! This sounds crazy I know. So, where am I now? I have a more positive outlook on life now. I have had counselling sessions and they helped me tremendously. I turn to positive thinking books now and I always have one by my side! Whenever I feel that I'm beginning to sink slightly, I reach for a good self-help book and my spirit is immediately lifted. Problems used to come up and I just would not deal with them so further problems arose. Now, I deal with everything that comes my way. I deal with it and then it's out of the way. Positive thinking tapes have also helped me a lot. Anthoney Robbins for example! Have you ever heard of him? Well, he's an American life coach and I bought his tapes. Generally you listen to a tape a day and this is exactly what I needed, a good kick up the backside to get myself moving and taking positive action. So, are you suffering from the blues? What are you going to do to help yourself move forward and aim for what you want? Andrew

I used to struggle with this myself at one time Andrew and still have the occasional bleak episode to be honest. Thankfully though these bleak periods are far and few between these days! I too have also sought counselling in the past and it did help me to a point I guess but mostly from the aspect of providing me a means to release my thoughts on someone unbiased for once! I am not a user of self-help books or tapes anymore but I was at one stage. The book that does play a major role in my life though is "The Secret" and I do try to embrace a number of the mindsets covered in this.
The main challenge for me was always breaking the bad habits. Not physical habits, but mental ones. After long periods of depression and sadness we tend to be all consumed by negativity and pessimism. It becomes like a cancer and ravages our entire way of life. I consistently make a conscientious effort these days to stop myself whenever I fell negativity creeping into my thoughts or my actions. I use visualization a lot as well. At first this was ridiculously difficult because old habits and old mindsets are very hard to break! But thankfully over time I am starting to find it easier and easier to think positively and that I have a "silver lining" attitude to things that before would have devastated me. It is an ongoing journey and I am getting better every day!
Best of luck with your own journey mate! Whatever doesn't kill us only make us stronger right? ANd for yet another quote.... We are far more potential than we are actuality! Our biggest challenger has always come from within and the very fact that an issue has been acknowledged in the first place and has been faced head on means the future has a better than average chance of being bright indeed!

Hi James, it sounds like you are a lot stronger nowadays! I too love the Secret, I have a copy of my own and I also have the dvd to accompany this book. There certainly is a lot of good thoughts in the secret and I try to utilize them myself. Thanks for your thoughts. I do consider myself stronger than I used to be now. As a matter of fact, I'm still receiving couselling, I see her once per month and she is a fine lady, very helpful. I think that the counselling sessions are slowly winding down now. Anyway, as I mentioned, whenever I need a pick me up I just listen to a Tony Robbins tape. Speak to you again James. Andrew
