David Blaine is going to be hanging upside down above New York's Central Park next week fo 60 hours. Dr. Massimo Napolitano of Hackensack University Medical Center in New Jersey says that it could cause blindness. Dr. Napolitano is the chief of vascular surgery and is advising Blaine on the stunt. He said that hanging upside down for a long period increases blood pressure in the head, especially in the eyes, and can lead to blindness. The doctor doesn't say how long the blindness could last, but he says that there is also a risk of swelling and cramps in internal organs. Nevertheless, Napolitano says that the stunt could yield valuable data for doctors. So, is the risk really worth the "valuable data"?
