Have You Ever Tried Hunting/Investigating Anywhere?

So I think it's safe to assume that all of us in the paranormal section of MyLot has some sort of interest in the paranormal, being a skeptic or believer. I'm sure most of us have seen ghost hunting shows on television, like Ghost Hunters, Ghost Hunters International, Most Haunted, Paranormal State, etc.
So I was just curious. Has anyone here ever taken a shot at doing ghost hunts/investigations? Or, as a matter of fact, are you actually a ghost hunter? I don't think I could really classify myself as one, but I have tried doing investigations in the past, but mainly in my home. I've only used the two pieces of equipment I own though, a digital camera and a Sony digital voice recorder, which I bought back in February. Believe it or not, I've caught two EVPs in my house with it since.
So what about you guys? Ever tried it yourself?

what's EVP? i havent tried investigating or hunting anything paranormal.. but i think that sometimes they're drawn to me. i can feel presences in other people's house, as well as ours. i once saw a UFO too... (or so i think!)... so, i dont think i ever have to investigate. LOL! :)

'EVP' stands for electronic voice phenomena (or sometimes as phenomenon). Basically it's when you use a voice recorder (digital or tape) and when you play the recording back, you hear a noise or better yet a voice talking that was not present. There are a bunch of them on YouTube if you want to listen to some. Just search 'evp' or 'electronic voice phenomena' and you'll find plenty. One of my favorite evp videos off the top of my head is one a group did in Ohio at a bridge called Crybaby Bridge. If you'd like to hear that one, just search 'evp Crybaby Bridge' the video, uploaded by the user JasGCOP, should be the first one. They actually put in several they got from the area in the video.

Nope never. As fascinated as I am with the paranormal, I am afraid of ghosts. I do want to visit the Lemp Mansion that is reportedly haunted in St. Louis, MO. But beyond that I have never hunted for them. I have experienced their presence but never in a visual way. That in particular is what I don't think I could handle. But I have experienced unexplainable occurences like voices, knocks, doors opening or shutting, TVs going on or off or the volume going up or down. I have even experienced items moving on their own. That is the extent of it and that is about all I think I can handle right now.

Ah. Well if you are afraid of ghosts, then it probably is better that you don't. I can't remember reasons why exactly, but I have heard of a lot of people say if it makes you uncomfortable and stuff like that, then it's best not to. Something about how they can sense and feed on negative emotions or something. I can't remember exactly though, I'd have to look it up.

I would love to do this. there are a couple of places that I would love to investigate and try to see if can get some evps/ That would be so awesome. there is a house (mansion really) that is in the town I grew up in and it is said to have several ghosts. one is the lady in red , and her son who drowned in the ohio river and some other ghost.

If you're going to investigate somewhere not your house, I would suggest to bring a friend with you. Mainly just in case something should happen, and not necessarily paranormal. You never know what may happen, such as you might need help.
Otherwise, good luck on the evps. If you can, bring a camera too and take some pictures. Who knows what you might end up getting with that as well.

Hello DarthJustice. I have never tried hunting anywhere, but it is interesting of your discussion for what you have for what you have done in your home. I am wondering if you felt scared or a little bit of nervous when you were doing so. I have often heard about so many people talk about ghosts, but I am still suspicious about it. Yeah, I have to say that I have watched quite a few movies about groups of young people hunting for something in a haunted house. It is so scary, but I like to watch it. hehehe

Well, it can be a little weird to say the least when you are able to pick up someone talking that was not there at the time and like that. But yeah, I have felt nervous about doing this sort of thing before.

i've been tempted to try evps but i think that if i ever got anything it would scare me to know that im really not alone in my house when i think i am. i am interested in orbs and such and i hear that in cemeteries you can find a whole bunch. so i think i might just do that. i also saw a thing where you photograph monitors or tv sets and sometimes you get an image of someone. im half tempted to try that out.

You should try all that. Even if not in your home, you might end up getting something. I've heard about the photographing monitors and tv sets. I believe I've tried it once or twice at home but I never got anything out of the ordinary though. But yeah, I've heard that about cemetaries too.
