Of all the myths my most favorite myth is Homer's THE ODDYSSEY. It's a story about about a man who is trapped on an island by a witch. He defeats the witch after remaining her captive for quite sometime. He then begins his journey towards home. Athena disguises him as an old man, because his wife's suitors who are living in his palace whould surly kill him on the spot before he would have a chance to enter his own palace. Oddyssey first reveals himself to his son and then to a goat herder. The three of them go to Oddysey's palace. Oddyssey goes in there disguised as an old begger. He puts up with the ridicule from the suitors. Then at the right moment he reveals himself to them and he kills off all the suitors that have eaten up his animals and have been drinking his wine all those years he was gone. His wife kept a tapestry for all those years. She told the suitors that she would continue with the tapestry until her husband arrived home safely. If she finished it the tapestry before her husband came back to her, then she would chose one of the suitors to marry. But she never did finish the tapestry, because everytime she was close to finishing the tapestry, she would unravel it, as a means of buying time, because she loved Oddyssey too much. Oddysey then revealed himself to his wife. The ODDYSSEY, is a beautiful love story. It is my favorite book of all time.

I had to read that book for a class. It was a long read, but I have to admit that it was an interesting story. It is certainly better than some of the books I had to read. With all the things that occur in the story, it can be very complex to understand and analyze.
