Men normally do that, just like what we seen in movies, acting like a gangster.. lol =D I think it's something like making them feel good and that they are very proud to do so.. As for some, it can be seen as being very arrogant.. haha =D I do shake my legs when i'm sitting too, but i dun do that in public, i only shake it at home.. lol

I am one of those people who sit and shake my leg or foot. I have to, i can't stand not to be in motion. It drives people nuts, and they don't understand why i do it, why i have to do it. If i try and sit still its painful.

My ex would jiggle his foot watching t.v , I asked once why he did it ,I got a shrug. Our son also did it he was five and we were having breakfast,he answered because I like it. I am still none the wiser as to why they do it. lol.

I usually get the impression that there is a problem deep inside of the person. I know of a man in his 50's that does it all the time. Let me say that I've noticed him to be a very irritating type person, a major know it all type that never shuts up. He acts like he's a scholar on any topic being discussed at that time.

Hi!
You're right, it's a mannerism. Even girls shake their legs. But in a deeper sense according to science it means that persons who shake their leg it means boredom. If you would notice, when a person shakes his/her legs its usually when they are waiting for something. Or when they are doing nothing.

The first thought that would come across my mind is that this person might had a matter in his mind, his thoughts are wandering somewhere or maybe he is just being comfortably sitting there. Honestly, I don't stand much to people who does have this kind of behavior, it shakes me also in some extent, don't know the reason hehehe, its just that I am not comfortable being with, but most likely, I wouldnt focus on the feet but rather on the face as a resort, lol. We do have different mannerism anyway, like myself, I usually express a hand when I am talking and especially if I am emphasizing something to someone I talked with, so I guess its a fair way of viewing that its his mannerism and that has nothing to do with me,lol. Hope I make sense.

I would think they are either upset, bored, or need to go to the bathroom! lol I do it a lot when I get really mad or if my legs cramp up from sitting a certain way for awhile. But, usually, the first thing I think is that they are upset.
