| |  There are lots of websites that offer online help for beginners. I'm not sure if webmonkey still offers free online help for tutorials but there are still numberous sites out there. Try to google "web design" and click on the links. You can also try youtube for visual aids. Good luck!

i gona answer you according to my Experience, i see that you wanna make money that mean you need to make a Website and starting earning money, For this Case you just need to learn about the Basic of HTML then php, and looking for some CMS (Content Management Scripts) and choose one to work with it.. this kind of scripts Make the things easier, you have a control panel and you add content..etc, the HTML and php Basic will be needed when you want to add something, like a banner ..etc so focuse on tha side.
If you want to learn the Webdesign its self, so you should Learn HTMLPHP and javascript, then Working with Photoshop and some WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) software such Frontpage or Dreamwaver , using your imaginations and making Graphics and so on :)
