or so says the lyricist of this oldie, made famous by Dionne Warwick.
Even if you find the song 'corny,' which I don't by the way, do you think there's truth in these words?
This discussion came to my mind, after a conversation I had with my seventeen year old daughter.
I hadn't thought of this song for years, but began to think of other ways to finish the statement. It was hard for me to choose just one word, to fill in the blank. I finally settled on "What The World Needs Now Is Acceptance Sweet Acceptance."
What do you think the world needs now, and why?

What the world needs now is tolerance sweet tolerance.
I think if we learn to accept and tolerate what we do not understand the world would be in a better place.

Well I would say it needs a lot of that
There is to much evil, hate and mistrust in the world now and I think it will just get worse
You can't trust any one, all these attacks, killing and stabbing
I just don't know what has happened to the world but I believe it will only get worse not better

What you've said, is very sad but true. I do realize that there are still a lot of very good people out there, but it sure isn't the same as when I was growing up. I still like to think there 'are' people I can trust though, and I do know such people. We just have to be extra careful. Thanks for sharing here. Big Hugs.

wouldnt it be nice if they came out with this song again and maybe just made it alittle more rockish so everyone who heard it would think about the words? It was a cool song then and its a cool song now!

Well Mom the world needs so many things today! Love as the song originally suggests, acceptance as you have suggested, Understanding (Of People) and much more but because of my son I shall say understanding, simple understanding.

Hi someonesmom!
This is one of the great songs with good and meaningful message. I think I'm gonna stick with the original lyrics of "LOVE". I think if all people will have love not only with himself/herself and immediate family but with all the people that he/she meet and encounter, I think we can be a different world. From LOVE, there will be CONCERN and CARING for others, extending your arms to help them whatever you can, etc.
I think we can do many things when we have LOVE in our hearts and life.

Love this song! Totally awesome throwback. No need to change the song lyrics. Nothing is better than love! Nothing's real but love. Love makes the world go 'round. Love changes everything. Put a little love in your heart and the world will be better place.
