I believe that song was written by the great Burt Bacharach himself. But you're right. Although I'd still go by Burt's original statement, which kinda ties in as well with what the Beatles once sang about, that all we need is love.

Well I would say it needs a lot of that
There is to much evil, hate and mistrust in the world now and I think it will just get worse
You can't trust any one, all these attacks, killing and stabbing
I just don't know what has happened to the world but I believe it will only get worse not better

What the world needs now is tolerance sweet tolerance.
I think if we learn to accept and tolerate what we do not understand the world would be in a better place.

Well Mom the world needs so many things today! Love as the song originally suggests, acceptance as you have suggested, Understanding (Of People) and much more but because of my son I shall say understanding, simple understanding.

wouldnt it be nice if they came out with this song again and maybe just made it alittle more rockish so everyone who heard it would think about the words? It was a cool song then and its a cool song now!

This is one of the great songs with good and meaningful message. I think I'm gonna stick with the original lyrics of "LOVE". I think if all people will have love not only with himself/herself and immediate family but with all the people that he/she meet and encounter, I think we can be a different world. From LOVE, there will be CONCERN and CARING for others, extending your arms to help them whatever you can, etc.

I think we can do many things when we have LOVE in our hearts and life.
