Do you judge people by their combat level? |
|
I know that many, many people judge people by simply looking at other people's combat level. You get called noob simply because you're a lower leveled character, you appear as less valued, simply because you have low leveled stats. Now, I think that this is rather unfair. People who have a high level combat appear to be highly respected, and from my own experience, everyone wants to be a friend with you, if you are a high combat level, and wear expensive items. Now, I really do not judge people by their combat level. Some people tend to train their other stats that are not combat related, and therefore they are strong in their own aspects.
What are your opinions to this?

1. Snoopielyn (38) | 1 year ago | I, personally, do not judge players in the game by their combat levels. I judge them by their personality. I take each person individually and determine whether I want to be friends with them based on the way they act.
I have had many positive and negative experiences on both ends of the combat level scale. I have an account that is level 123 in nonmembers as well as an account I consider a skiller, which is level 3.
With the level 123, I get a lot of attention whether I want it or not. I get a lot of people wanting to add them to my friends list although I've never talked to them. I try to avoid this, as, in my experience, they're only after money or a high level friend to show off to other friends. I also get a lot of negative attitude toward my level. I get told to get a life a lot. People don't take into consideration that my combat level is the result of 4 years of playing.
With the level 3, of course I get called a noob a lot. I've never let that bother me. In fact, I have to laugh at it. There are also people who seem dumbstruck that the account is level 3 and can fish lobster and swordfish or cut yews. I also get called a bot quite a bit on the account.
There are all types of people in the game. Some do judge by level, and some are more interested in the person behind the character. Some just don't stop and think that everyone started out low level, and not everyone has played for a long time or is able to play for very long. Some people also don't consider that high levels were once low levels. They do have a life, they've just likely been playing a longer time.

2. uath13 (3753) | 1 year ago | It's actually quite possible to be a combat noob. All you have to do is continually play safe minigames. You'd get incredibly high combat stats yet still have no clue how to play the rest of the game.
I'm more impressed by a players total level.

| Snoopielyn (38) | 1 year ago | I totally agree with you. I'm much more impressed by a character that works on everything, as opposed to a character with high combat. The mini game Pest Control created high combat leveled players who are clueless about a lot of aspects of the game.

| 4. locke49 (57) | 1 year ago | It depends on what you mean by "judge." If you mean judging how experienced of a player they are or how well they will do in battle, then combat level is a very good indication. But if you're talking about what kind of person they are (the person at the keyboard), then no, combat level does not matter. The term "noob" originated as a term for a new, inexperienced player, and if your combat level is low, this is most likely true.

5. ByblosFlare (153) | 1 year ago | Hmm...thats an interesting point! i currently have a lvl 81 account, I was a skiller at some point, but then i decided to take up my combat level because even if you had a party hat at level 3 you still wouldnt get the respect of a level 81 with a party hat (not that i have a party hat:P ) But i also agree with you guys about been a combat noob, that can happen and it does a lot of the time, i know level 100+ with total lvls below 600. With their highest non combat skill been less then 60 and even having skills still at level 1. So there are diffrent ways to look at this question...

8. wunovakind2 (339) | 1 year ago | Definitely not because you never know why someone or how someone is in the status that they are. To automatically assume based on a combat level is telescoping their story. I base what I think on first impressions, the way they type, what they are doing, attitude, etc. I've personally met very incompetent high levels, ignorants, cheaters, etc. On the other hand, I've met very personable lower levels.

10. rstdnm (106) | 1 year ago | I dont judge them by their Combat lvls. I usually ask them if they have a main or if they are new. I usually make a new account every time I get bored and train my account to lvl 100 or something.
