I like these two different painting style, and you? |
| |
| Painting is one of my interests. The Chinese painting style is totally different than the western style. The Chinese painting focus on the "empty" style. The drawing seems to be simple and not so vivid. However, it has another feeling that is hard for me to explain. I like this style. However, if I draw my picture like that, it'll be ugly because it needs some time to master how to paint it. The western painting style seems to be full. All the picture will be painted, including the background. Although these two styles are opposite, but I appreciate to them both. | | | | | |

| | Great discussion, youless. Painting is one of my interests as well. I love both styles of painting very much. Chinese painting is a lot more focussed on the negative space in a painting and I often feel that more can be expressed in the negative space than with actual brush strokes. IMO it takes more of a natural talent to be able to achieve such results, whereas western techniques could be eventually learned by anyone with a desire to learn them. Enjoy making your art! | | | | | | |

| | And it's quite amazing that Chinese painting sometimes uses only one color (black ink) and it can finish a whole masterpiece. | | | |

| | I am into Van Gogh. He used bright vivid color. I love that. I like it when the color is so intense it jumps off the canvas and really touches me. Forgive me but I have only seen a few Japanese paintings, I haven't seen an Chinese. | | | | | | |

| | I agree with you that the two styles are completely different. Perhaps you can use the Chinese influence in your paintings using the western style. That would be a nice combination. | | | | | | |
