If you went back in time to warn someone of death, would the Universe end?

I've been hearing all types of theories about this scenario. Let's say all you did was go back in time and warned somebody close to you of their death and then came back here and that's all you did... Would that little thing you fixed cause the Universe to end simply because u changed history in a way? If so, how would the Universe end exactly?

I don't think the universe would come to an end, but i still think time travel is a bad idea. I think if you went back and changed one thing, such as saving persons life, it can effect the future you were in. Everything effects everything else, if one little thing is thrown off balance, it all goes off balance, but not necessarily ending the universe. Shoot the person you saved might actually cause the world to be a better place. If that makes any sense.

well let's say the person wasn't an important historical figure like Hitler but just a close friend of your's and it wasn't his time to die because he killed himself? I mean if you just stopped him from doing that and had a long talk with him to fix things, you come back to your time and he's still alive... do u really think that would have a negative effect on anything?

I don't necessarily believe it would be a negative effect, but it would have an effect. Say i saved the persons life, and they had the cure for AIDS, so it produced a positive effect. Each little action taken as an effect, each choice made. It does not matter who the person is, it will still have an effect. Of course that is all based on if you believe that everything has a purpose and done for a reason.

well i would think that if you went back into time and fixed what ever it was to where the world wouldnt end (if it was something to where man could prevent that is) then yes the world would be saved from that but every thing would be different when you would go back due to the fact you changed something in the past.. may not change much at all but it would be different.. lets say its like an environmental or no war type thing then whatever they changed environmentally may be for the worse later on in a different way.. i dont think anyone should be able to go back in time unless it was to prevent the end of the earth.. but like i said who knows if it would end any better or earlier or later..

You just cannot change what had happen in the past. If you got the chance to go back in time and chance what ever you want to change then the future ,like what happen to you now would change. Even though the person or whoever that the changes applied is nobody or just some regular joe. Everything in the universe connects. If some thing had been tempered with, surely the chain reaction began. That effect everything. We might don't know if that particular didn't die that excat moment, there will be a lot of other possiblities that could happen. Bad things could happen to. So it shall be done, so it shall be written...

The very fact the you went back in time would bifricate the universe into two and the new universe would allow you to do whatever you would like. Remember in Back to the Future 2, where Doc was telling Marty about the "alternate 1955". Well physics seem to point to the possiblility of (if time travel were possible of course) multiple universes, like the show Sliders. If you went back in time, you COULD kill your own father because it would simply create another universe where you weren't ever born. But you, the traveller, already came from a dimention where you were born obviously and hence you would be safe.
