As a mother of three, none of the household chores bother me so much. I love to cook, clean, rear the children, wash and all. But what's more difficult is the responsibility of budgeting. Especially that the income is first and foremost not enough... Whew!!! However, although budgeting is such a tiresome family matter, I'm still happy to share to all myLotters that what takes most of the family income is FOOD! I tell my children and my husband to conserve everything. Electricity, water, paper, pen, soap and EVERYTHING! But I always give them enough, if not more, food that they like. Can you also share which of the family expenses you spend the most? KISSES TO ALL MYLOTTERS!

thank God that my husband does all the budget stuff. i am terrible with money and numbers and all of that. when i lived with my parents before getting married i would just throw my credit card bills on my desk, where they would sit for months! although i don't do the budged, though, i can definitely agree with you that the grocery budget takes up the most of our money.

it's good that your husband is responsible enough to help you out with the family. seldom do we hear of that situation where the man takes that task. You must be so lucky to have him. Regards!

Budgeting is very difficult, in fact it is worse than anything. And you think how much an accountant or financial person gets paid, and running a household budget uses all of those skills to run properly and successfully! I was just talking to my hubby earlier about budgeting, I said that a households budget has to be run like a military operation to get it to work out. I have over the last year really knuckled down with mine and have seen some pleasant results. We did used to spend a lot out on food, but now I have cut right back on what I spend. Half of the things I was buying were not being used and as I found out, kids will just eat and eat whatever is in the cupboards so now I tell them "once it is gone there is no more until the next shop" and it works so I save a lot on their little snacks now.

You sound just like me. I mean, that budgeting is not an easy task. Sometimes, the money is spent already before the pay day! But at the end of the day, I know that all mothers all happy despite the hardship of family problems because her loved ones are intact. Regards!

Rent takes the mot of our budget. Then either the cell or cable bill. Then there are a lot of little things that take thier piece as well.

That is true it is hard to go on budgeting especially if our financial status is not in good. In my case the most expenses goods that take a lot of money are foods and transportation allowance. Because in foods we need to eat six times a day and for transportation daily. I did every thing to conserve energy, water, soap and all basic commodities but it doesn't have affect against the high price commodities today. So, we are all in cost cutting program in order to meet the basic needs daily. Budget is the number one subject that we have to teach in our young generation today. Being thrifty and train them to have an extra income by selling all the used clothes, bottles and plastic cups and etc.. that are not necessary inside the house.

It really is hard to pinpoint but it would have to be food as you stated and clothing. My husband is the one running up the clothing half of our expenses beleive it or not lol... he has this addiction to clothing... i try to talk to him about it but to no avail. I even tried to tell him that he doesnt wear HALF if not more than half of what he has! Why not free up some space and give the clothes he will probably never wear to charity or to some organization... each time i fill up a bag with him the next day i find it empty so i gave up on that. Another thing would have to be our internet bill... we used to pay BY THE MINUTE! We finally got aDSL service and switched promptly which saved us a bundle... which will in turn go towards his clothing... ((sigh))

i totally agree with you--- i also am on the sme boat as far as mother's responsibilities are concerned. i also have 3 kids and do most of the chores and all, and i do not complain one bit. both my partner and i are employed and still the budget is never really enough. i also spend more on food. specially since i have growing children. i can not bear to tell them to conserve on food intake.

I will agree with you that our tummy's need has the biggest allocation of budget. The daily consumption for the table needs more budget, more than the electricity and water bills. Further, if a family has a baby or two, that still take infant formula, then this is additional burden, may I say? But it doesn't matter, as long as they are feeling good, far from sickness.
