little women: an excellent book  |

 I love the book LITTLE WOMEN. It's a story about the March sisters and the obstacles they had to overcome in life. There was never enough money; therefore, the family had to do with what they had. Even if their father did know influential people in the writing world of whom he was friends with. Jo March used her writing talents in the hopes of helping to support her family financially. She submitted her story to a local newspaper who wanted to publish her work. She had a journal with a several of her stories recorded in it. But her younger sister Amy destroyed the journal by throwing it in the fire, to take revenge on Jo for not letting her go with on an outing. But when Amy March falls in the ice and is close to death, as a result of getting very sick, Jo March is sorry for being mean to Amy, and she forgave Amy for burning the journal containing the stories.

I did not thought of the fact that Jo's father was influencial, or for that matter that Larries's grandfather had money and influences too.
I think you are right, it is endearing that she did all by herself and that the whole family has pride.

| 2. dodo19 (4164) | 1 year ago |  I really love the book too. I read the novel some time ago and saw the movie on a number of occasions. I think it's also a novel about being women at time when women had very little opportunities opened to them. And the readers see how they all deal with that and to some extent, come to terms with it. Personally, I think it is something we can all relate to, to some degree, even in today's society. Because we go through similar obstacles as the March sisters do.
