Celebrating Halloween

I know that there's still more than a month between now and Halloween, but I was wondering how many people out there actually celebrate this holiday? Sure, kids dress up and go door to door shouting "TRICK OR TREAT". But what about the rest of us? Halloween is, afterall, a holiday that traces it's roots back to Europe and is therefore a global holiday, not just an American one. So I ask...how do you celebrate Halloween? Do you dress up and go trick or treating? Do you pass out candy? Do you go to parties? Do you do something completely unique and unusual?? I am looking for the greatest, scariest, craziest Halloween traditions.

i defenately agree with redchase, i dont think it matters what it represents, it just something that brings people together to have funa nd share something they all have in common. t also gives people a chance to be creative by making their own cosstumes or even fixing up their house to a certain theme.

i can personally understand what the lady before me is talking about, but i dont know, i think that the holiday has come from that to being something just fun. i mean, how many of us dress up like witches and goblins and such because we actually think that we'll be disguised amongst the real ghouls that come out? i dress up because its fun getting candy for absolutely no reason. im 20 and i think last year was my last time. ive never ever given candy before so i think im going to this year. i think its sad how people around my town dont really try anymore. when i was a kid i'd go to like 5 haunted houses on my block and now it seems that the majority of my neighbors leave their lights off and ignore the kids. there's no festive air anymore, and the kids costumes are soo commercial now. my mom used to dress me up as a gypsy in costumes she'd make herself. i know i'm asking for a bit much by asking mothers to do the same especially with today's busy schedules, but i think it lets your kids know you care and it makes them feel unique that their superman outfit doesnt look like the one in the store, and they can wear it afterward too as pjs. lol.

I personally do not participate in Halloween. I consider it a holiday giving recognition to satan and evil and witchcraft which is also satanic. I have no desire to be part of such a thing even though I did grow up participating in the costumes and the trick or treat and started out letting my children be part of it. Then I came to a better understanding of what it is really all about and our family changed our celebrations. Now the children are grown and have children of their own and they do as they choose so far.
