Who enjoys travelling for work?

I am actually out of town this week on business and I have to say that, while it is nice to have a big bed all to myself each night, it really sucks living out of a suitcase all the time. What's worse is that my family is so far away. Now, admittedly, I don't travel a lot for my work...only a couple of times a year. Still, when I go away it puts stress on my wife, it makes my life more difficult because I am so far away from my wife and kids, and it just generally isn't that much fun to be so far away from everything I know. Sure, I sound like I am whining, but I ask you...how many of you out there enjoy travelling for business? For those that do, what suggestions would you have to make travelling more enjoyable? One thing I have considered is getting out more while I am here and seeing some of the sights. Still, it is cold and grey where I am at, and that makes getting out to do anything a lot less appealing. Even so, I am open to suggestions. For those of you who DON'T like to travel, what things do you do to help you cope with it while you are out of town? How do you pass your time??? Any insights would be both welcome and appreciated.

Well, back in the early 90s I used to Travel all of the time. I was working for an Inventory company traveling all over Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana. It was a quite interesting job for sure, but you do get tired of sleeping in vans and hotels more than in your own bed during the busy months. Sometimes to this day I still miss the traveling and such, but am glad to not have to be gone all of the time as well.
