How often does everyone run their spyware programs?

I used to run adaware and spybot and other programs on my computer at least once a week on my computer to get rid of all the weird little files you don't want on there. Now i hardly run them at all and my computer runs fine. How often do you do this and what program do you guys use. I'm also looking for a good one to use on my new laptop as well.

I ran my antispyware twice a week. I used AVAST, it's free and it good.

I hardly do it at all. I have never really kept up on this kind of stuff until something goes wrong.LOL I have a friend who is a computer programer so comes over fixes it and then gives me a lecture that I dont listen to..I think he installed norton on here but IM not even sure?
