have you a good excuse to turn down someone?

my father's friend intrduced a job for him ,but he does not like it because a low salary and the worktime is too long but he haven't good idea to refuse others,so he came bake very boring ,
in the afternoon, i called this frined ,told he my family have many things need me father to cope with ,and my old grandma need a caring ,so i rejected his introduction given to my father,
i don't know the action is wrong pr right .
i just kown sometimes ,the reason that seems to find it is difficult, we always don't want to both harm other ones good meanning and don't want to accept it ,so the only way to find a excuse to turn down someone ,
my friend ,have you ever experiened this things ?
what is your excuse for it?

I think you could have told your father's friend the truth. I always try my best to tell the truth to turn down something without hurting the other party. If you tell a lie, One day you will not remember the lie you told that person and you might say something else to himwhen that topic comes up. So if you forget what you said earlier, you are going to hurt the other party more than you think. Sometimes will lose the friendship too. Best thing is tell the truth all the time. People will understand.

Its hard to turn someone down weather you have a good excuse or not. I think it was very nice of you call and explain things to your fathers friend. Its too bad that he could not be responsible for excusing himself. It sounds like your father has a lot on his plate and maybe they are part of the reason he turned down the job, but perhaps if your dad was just honest with his friend, his friend might be able to find him a better job that would suit his needs.
