An Interesting Query

so a job recent has me hunting down information and even in full on research mode.. i cannot find a single thing. soo i take a shot and bring the query here to the paranormally adept folks on the lot. theoretically speaking.. if a vampire were to be excorcised out of its hosted body (a real vamp.. not a human that dusts themselves down with powder.. sleeps all day and wears fake teeth) and its essence were left to wander incorporeally.. what would this essence now become? is it still "vampire" ? or is it something entirely different? and how does one go about getting rid of such an entity?

Sorry I've been gone for awhile, but it is time to return with a vengeance: Starting with your fun question! I will start by saying I am not a vampire expert, nor am I a vampire nor even play one on TV, but when it comes to the paranormal I don't mind throwing some educated "what if's" around. "Theoretically", a vampire is an undead creature, and as such, no longer contains a soul tied to its body in a normal way. True undead have tiny pieces of souls tied to every cell in their body. In the case of vampires, these pieces are fairly complex and form an amalgam soul stronger than most human souls. This leads to many of the vampires' mental "advantages", and make them nearly impossible to completely destroy. If you encounter a human possessed by a vampire "soul", the state is only temporary as the vampire's desire will be to reincorporate some semblance of its former body. If you are able to drive the possessing "soul" out, it will seek refuge in its original body's cells (regardless what state they are in). This may mean retreating into a burned or dismembered buried body, or even into an urn of dust if bone cells stayed partially intact. This means to get rid of the "soul" permanently, it would be necessary to find the original remains. From there it takes an incredibly strong "soul", preferably godly, demonic or devilish, to destroy the amalgum "vampire soul" and return its constituent pieces to the collective stream. In rare cases, a "vampire soul" released from a temporary human host will be able to hide within another nearby human host, but it will no longer have any ability to affect a host until it can return to its original cells and reconstituate itself. This is similar to the way demon souls can jump, but because of how they were created, the vampires do not have the strength to take over, unfortunately they are not affected by magic circle protection for the same reason.

heathcliff!!! (sends friends request upon yer return from the great beyond) thank you for this intelligent insight, its greatly appreciated. am curious.. as to how and what method said suggested "strong soul, prefferably godly" would do to destroy the vampyre "soul", if you have any thoughts or input, thatd be also greatly appreciated... as what ive thrown at this thing hasnt done a damned lick of good. still hasnt been determined exactly WHAT it/he is.. but it sure couldnt hurt to eliminate an avenue of possibility

I just wanted to say....interesting. I have no wisdom in these types of things, but that doesn't negate my curiosity:) Good luck!

It would be a ghost I would think because it cannot act in the physical world and therefore cannot feed as a vampire would nor would it need to. If it in effect became a demon I would assume that a binding spell could at least keep it at bay and from hurting anyone else. A blessing to the area it currently "haunts" may send it out of that place. Assuming it would incorporeally drain people's psychic energy and therefore be a psychic vampire then you may want to put some sort of mystical protection yourself if you are aware of it's presence but again a binding spell may work to stop it's preying. This is all based on assumption as I have never heard of this situation before. My husband recommends the White Wolf Role Playing Game books. Its only a game but situations like this are commonly discussed in the books for game play reasons as the game is based on the vampire culture.
