how to get backlinks?  

:D It's actually because I read that Google will display your site more if its engine saw that it was relevant. But then there are thousands of relevant sites out there. So how will it gauge the relevance? By looking at the blog's popularity - and that's where the backlinks enter the scene :D I want my site to pop up whenever I want it to so I'm building my backlinks :D

You're right. But links are like promises, they can be broken. Although there are ways to monitor this, this is very time consuming. Once a link will be removed, you cannot do anything except to add again.

All my blogs have PR3 but my Adsense earnings is very low. I also am increasing my backlinks but it's not intentional. I am fond of reading other blogs (related or not) and leave quality comments.

Again, your blog may pop-up everywhere and may have tons of traffic but NOT a guarantee to Adsense earning increase. You got to write popular and in-demand posts.

My friend had an Internet gadget blog, and he is earning around $300 from Adsense but his blog is also PR3.

Where do you find the blogs that you read? I've read that commenting on other blogs does help you with backlinks but I don't know where to get the blogs to read from :D I also like reading, but I don't like reading random blogs from Blogger that are essentially Baby Diaries.

When I was very new in blogging (mid last year), I Google Search every topic that I want to learn say "How to Blog" and eventually, I found very useful blogs in which now I am subscribed to more than 30 blogs.

Anyway, commenting on blogs and posting on forums that are 'follow' help a blog to increase PR. But as I said, my blog is PR3 but that is not my intention as I do not check a blog if it is 'follow' or not. In fact, I do not know if my blog is a 'follow' or not simply because I want to build links naturally.

I do not comment on blogs just to increase my PR as I think this is a "quiet" form of being greedy. I comment on blogs simply because the post interests me to.
