Where is our "Mr. October"? | | The Cubs continue to make history, albeit bad history. They won their division two years in a row. The last time they did that was 1907-1908. (Also 1906) They won 97 games this year. They scored 6 runs or more in an inning too many times for me to count. They scored 855 runs this year. Their defense was superb this year. They looked different this year. They made us believe things would be different this year. The thing we forgot is there are two seasons of baseball. The regular season, April through September and the second season, October. I don't know what happens to them during the playoffs. With the exception of Dempster uncharacteristically giving up 7 walks in game 1, their pitching wasn't all that bad. It's their hitting, or lack of, that costs my Cubbies. They could not produce when there were runners in scoring position. They choked! I cannot count on my fingers and toes how many times they didn't swing at the pitches down the middle of the plate, yet swung at the pitches in the dirt or way outside. What happened to their discipline at the plate? In general, what happens to this team in October? They have no one that steps up and gets the big hit. I give credit to the Dodgers. They truly did their homework on the Cubs and found every weakness of every hitter. And, they have an excellent Mr. October in Manny Ramirez. Why can't the Cubbies get a Mr. October? There has to be someone out there that can fill the bill. Maybe, if Mark Cuban buys the Cubs, he can buy a Mr. October. I just don't know who that guy would be. I guess I will have to wait, again, for next yesr. Anyway, I have had a Fannie May Cubs chocolate bar I have been saving for the end of the Cubs season. I will be munching on it very soon, after work today. Would anyone like a piece of Cubbie chocolate? PEACE

sarahruthbeth22 (10499) | 1 year ago | I know coming from a Dodger fan this may seem weird but I was hoping for a Cubs win. I was more sad for the Cubs than happy for the Dodgers.I thought you had all you needed to win it all.

| | 2. sarahruthbeth22 (10499) | 1 year ago | I thought you had everything you needed. I thought Fukudome was your Mr October. He seemed like the clutch hitter you needed and finally got. I was an instant fan of his. What happened? I know this will sound a little strange coming from a long time Dodger fan but I was more sad for the Cubs than happy about The Dodgers! I am still hoping the cubs go And win a World Series in our life time.

Trace86 (3407) | 1 year ago | It sounds like Kosuke needs more training in the off-season to condition him properly for next year. He is wonderful. There are so many other wonderful players on the team too though. We cannot depend on one person to do it for us. We need the whole team to step up and consistently produce quality performances. I have been a Cub fan all my life. If I listen to my mom, I jumped up in my crib at a year and half old and yelled, "Go Cubs!". I believe that I will continue to be a Cubs fan for the rest of my years, no matter how my boys perform. I will be happier if they do well, but will love them anyway if they don't.

To see them win is great but if they don't, I love them just the same. The Red Sox won it is time for the Cubs. That is my wish for all Cub fans.

fpd1955 (1286) | 1 year ago | Trace, I know one man doesn't make our team win, but we needed one Cub to spark them. You watched them all year, as have I. How many games were we down 4, 5 6 and even 9 runs and we came back and won? Whether it was Ramirez, Theriot, Lee, DeRosa, Edmonds, Soriano, Fontenot, Johnson, Fukudome or even Zambrano (power hitter in disguise), all it took was a spark from one of them and we started to roll. Our Cubbies need to bring that spark into October. Ya know, I still wear my Cubs watch at work. Some people question as to why I still wear it, others say I am a loyal fan. I will be a Cub fan until the day I die, obviously win or lose! Besides, it's a very cute watch. Go Cubs! PEACE
