how many ways are used to making friends through network?

have friends all over the world is a happy thing. u can learn different culture background,colorful culture knowledge. and chatting with different nations is definitely happy thing.
but,where can we find some friends everywhere?if there are not foreigner around us?
i've used my skype for half a year.during this half year,i really gain so many friends all around the world. what a joyful things.
do you have others way to get friends all over the world?
do you use skype?

Hi, I have some friends from around the world. I met them through the internet then we e-mailed each other and do some chat online. Others I use the regular snailmail. The friends I have, I call them freinds because we still have correspondence after many many years even if we don't get to see each other personally.
No i haven't used skype yet, still don't have a webcam.
