"Many people believe that the definition of a normal bowel movement is having 1 movement each day, but that is not true for everyone. There is no rule for frequency of bowel movements, but the general range is from 3 times a day to 3 times a week. Less than 3 movements a week may indicate constipation, and more than 3 watery stools a day could indicate diarrhea"I never really thought about this until I start having problems with my bowel movement.
I usually average about 3 movements a week.
I hate constipation. That is a very uncomfortable situation and I don't like taking laxatives.t?
Size and shape:
A bowel movement should be soft and easy to pass, though some people may have harder or softer stools than others. Stool should be brown or golden brown, be formed, have a texture similar to peanut butter, and have a size and shape similar to a sausage.
Do you have a normal bowel movement?

Hi there Chevee, surprised to find you here talking about bowel movements. It was just on my mind, it seems that I have them several times a day but they are always very small pieces. I think that is because I don't get very much fiber in my diet. I will have to try eating more oatmeal and see if I notice any change. Thanks for posting.
Great conversation!

Goodness chevee, it's like being at work where everything seems to come down to poo!! hehe I think my bowel movements are normal, and you're right these things are different for everyone. But if you are having any problems you can get it checked out as it may be an indicator that something is not quite right somewhere! Or think about whether you hve changed your diet recently, obviously what we eat has an effect on our bowel movements. xxx

I have a normal bowel movement and I am glad to say there is nothing wrong with my gut. I do not have any funny feelings there. Furthermore, my feces do not smell bad at all. Cheers!!

I have no problem with bowel movement. I have always been a regular when it comes to that. This is due to the fact that vegetables and fruits are major part of my every diet. I never had any problem with constipation because of my healthy eating habits. I am confident my colon is clean and have zero chances of getting colon cancer.

I don't believe there is any such thing as a normal bowel movement. I have become more regular as I have aged, I can say that. I used to have like one per week as a young man, now I am probably around three. Seems strange to me, since I now eat more regular food that junk food. Wonder why the junk food stayed with me so long and regular food does not?

Hi Chevee,
Well thank you for that as I have no idea what is good or what is bad, but I normally go every morning ans sometimes before I go to bed so that makes it twice a day, I am ok though as I have had a check up with the doc and all is fine except I am lacking in iron.
