In the recent research it has been established that most people skip many words while reading and they oncentrate more on the key words to get the abstract of thr matter! This I never realised before! After reading this article I realised that it is true and I am also one of those people who are doing so! Do you follow word to word while reading a matter ? What do you do to increase your speed of reading ? I think during our childhood our teachers used to ask us to read a passage loudly in front of all the students, perhaps to train a student to train how to read properly and in a fast way ! Well do you read the matter in details by following each and every word ? Please respond ! Thanks !

As one becomes a better reader they are able to skip more words and hit the key words and phrases without missing the meaning. In speed reading class this is part of the strategy they teach. A person learns to be able to move quickly through the lines identifying phrases and terms without reading word for word what is on the page.

Yes, I skip some words at times. I really don't know how I became a fast reader. I just did. I just know that when I was in HS, I started reading pocketbooks and from there, it just went on and on. By the time I reached college, I could read a novel in 2 days. I guess practice makes perfect.

Yes I do because I am a loud reader. I like to read aloud and there is no way I will skip any word with this method.
