This month has brought several festivals our way and diwali the festival of lights is surely the major one among it. I would be avoiding crackers largely this diwali as a token of my contribution to reduce pollution. I would try to convince my daughters on this issue too. So i would be concentrating on festive lights, diyas, candles and some really mouth watering recepies this time. How do you plan to spend your diwali?

I have never heard of this holiday. Can you tell me more about it? What country is it originated from? Do you celebrate it with having the family over for dinner? What is diyas? You say you use candles so I was wondering, does that mean you are not supposed to use electricty for your lights? What kind of meal do you cook that is in tradition to the holiday?
I am truly interested in knowing more about this holiday. I like to learn new things and this is a new one for me.

This is not a festival that I am familliar with, and not likely something celebrated in my culture. That's the great thing about MyLot. We are able to meet people from all over the place, and we are able to learn about eachother's cultural celebrations and beliefs. Thanks for sharing this one.
