Noisy neighbors. What do I do?

Noisy neighbors. What do I do? I live in an apartment building. I think a new neighbor just moved in, because all of a sudden there has been this incredibly loud bass coming through my wall from early evening till very late at night. It keeps me up. I really don't want to start some sort of a war with my next-door neighbor, but this is kind of untenable. What should I do about this problem? Should I go to the building engineer first? Or can he even do anything about it? And if I actually have to go over there, how should I phrase my plea for them to shut the heck up?

I think I'd go to the landlord or whom ever governs over the building and tell them what is going on. I'd tell them it's extremely noisy and it's interfering with your sleep and other productive things you need to engage in. They should be able to do something about it, if not I'm sure there are other people you can consult about the noise situation.

Yes, It will be more appropriate to tell the landlord first and had them to take any neccessary action towards your neighbors. If the situation still worsen you might personally gone the neighbor and tell them that they are disturbing you and if it's get more worse just call the cops.

First I would find out what your community's excessive noise ordinances are... so you have some facts besides the occurances to back you up. If you knew the person maybe bring it up to them bout how you would appreicate it if they'd keep the noise to a dull or not at all after such and such time. Otherwise you could always leave an anomyous note under their door, on their car, or in a common hallway by the mail box? We had a neighbor do that when someone else had a visitor who smoked in our halls and it agitated the persons breathing. After the note they got the landlord involved and they put letters under everyones door bout repecting neighbors and the rules of the building abt not smoking outside your own apt or patio. And if worse comes to worse call the cops and complain, the land lord won't appreciate finding out the cops were called to their property.

I think you should inform first your building administrator about your issue, it's pretty serious for me. It's never good to be selfish especially if your living in a place where many are cohabiting with you. Or maybe, you need to tell you neighbor frankly but kindly about your concern.
