what kind of external storage devices are you using?  

Ya i do update myself with time...When i was in my school i used floppy drives..At present i'm using pendrives,CD's and pocket harddisks

It is really a great revolution in storing devices now a days. Older days we need to rely on floppies, cdr and cdrw's but see now we can get portable hard disk with huge storing capacity and what about flash drives, they are great i have one with 8gb capacity. Amazing isn't it?

I have moved all my music and photos to a 'My Book' external hard drive made by Western digital. Its holds 500 GB, so there is plenty of room. If I get a new computer, all I need to do is play the device in, and I'm ready to go. No need to copy or transfer files.
An unexpected benefit of moving these big files to an external device is that by freeing up the space on the internal hard drive, my computer now runs faster.

i only use USB memory sticks, because external HDDs are somewhat sensitive to shocks

i only have 2 external HD, serves as a back up for my files in my laptop. the first one that i got is a 40GB lacie, it still has more than 9gigs left of free space. right now i had a new one a 150GB SATA HD. although it's not full yet, in fact, there's still a lot or a huge free space available but since there's a good product that comes in a very good price then i am entice to get one more just in case. i am planning of getting something with 300 or 500GB cap. i'm not using any flashdrive, since it is so small, there's a tendency that i might lose it so better stick with what i have.

yes, the times have changed and so do the technology. when i was in school, i saw the flopy disk for the first time. But as usual we do have to keep changing with the times so i use the USB from seagate.

Definetely we have to thank the technology. As the technology developes we make use of it. In olden days think of it we use floppy drive. It holds only 1.44mb of data. Now thumbdrive, flash drive are all arrives. Their memories are in terms of GB. Recently seagate has introduced 2TB HDD. Just think about the technology.

And also a small information. Now the data transfer rate in HDD is 3GB/s. Seagate has developed 6GB/s data transfer. Soon they will launch. After launch the motherboard makers is trying to support 6GB/s transfer rate.

I am using External Hard disk as my primary storage device as it speed is high. If I want to have data permanently with me, I go for DVD writer. Blueray technology was not commercialized in my city. I don't have a floppy Drive and Floppy disk with me.

I have been using pen drive or thumb drive as external storage device of a good company, I find it is better than using CDs for transferring data and record.
