When my hair was long, it looked dried out and lacked
luster.
So, I cut it off. But, I still have the
same problem.
I'd like to add some shine to my hair to
make it look healthy.
Are there any foods that can be eaten
to make hair look shiny and healthy?
What type of products do you use
to get shiny, manageable hair?

You need enough protein and oil in your diet, like eggs, and peanut butter, and you need to use a shampoo that does not dry it out too much. I like to rinse with vinegar as it takes all the soap scum off as well.

I think the secret is in the shampoo and conditioner you use, and i don't mean that it has to be expensive, I have fine hair and I find the if I use the shampoos and conditioners that have 'volume" in the discription it makes a big difference and there is a lot of shampoos and conditioners out there that stat for shine...

I can remember my mom slopping mayonnaise through her hair - she said the oils and whatnot gave her her such softness and shine. Personally, after shampooing and conditioning my (short, coarse) hair, while it's still wet, I rub about a "nickel" size of VO5 through my hair. It's actually the only thing that works for me. BUT if I try to use it when my hair has already dried, I look like the Fonz or somebody with greasy hair - only works when my hair is still wet.

Oh, and I always rinse my hair with the coolest water I can stand - that really helps make it shiny too!

I used to do the vinegar wash as what miss gardengerty said. What I do is I combine 1 cup of white vinegar in a jug of hot water. I let it cool to a temperature I can handle while shampoo and condition my hair. I do this only once a week or once a month. The smell is not good so I recommend doing this every weekend. So after washing my hair i just dump my hair on the bucket with the vinegar formula and just wash my hair repeatedly with it. And after washing you can see results immediately. It's soft and smooth. Another thing I do now is I put Virgin coconut oil 5 minutes before taking a shower or taking a bath. It work well too. I have read from the blog of Kim Kardashian that she keeps changing her hair products often like every two days to keep the hair bouncy because she believes the hair get immune with the product thus making it less effective. Well, her hair looks shiny and bouncy so i think what she does is effective.

I would like to give you another tip to make your har look shiny and healthy. Mayonnaise is made with a oil base, and it makes hair shine. But to avoid a mess, try this method.
Apply a cup of mayonnaise mixed with a teaspoon of vanila extract (to cut the mayonaise scent) to dry, unwashed hair. Cover your head with a warm towel to help the mayonaise penetrate, and leave it on for 20 minutes. Before you step into the shower, apply a heaping handful of shampoo to your hair. Don't add any water yet; just massage it in thoroughly for several minutes. Rinse with cool water in the shower and your hair will come out shiny and silky.

Use an anti-frizz shampoo and conditioner with regular oil massages and deep conditioning treatments will solve your problem. Use Silicone Hair Treatment to get the shiny look.
