It is not so hard, but it requires time, dedication and hard work. And most importantly, you need to learn how to spot a scam, so you do not get ripped off. Once you know how to do this, you will do it automatically and easily, but it takes some skill. So do some research online before you start!

First of all, where to you want to be published? Online? If yes, then there is a higher possibility of getting ripped off although not all online clients are deceitful oafs. Try submitting articles at www.helium.com's marketplace section. They pay for articles that are chosen for their clients. However, I prefer sticking to print publishing for the bulk of my work as a freelance writer. There are real offices where I can go to and get my checks for payments. I also have editors who I can personally visit or call if I need to talk to them about my assignments without the fear that, after submission, they might suddenly vanish into thin air.
