Do you touch wood to avoid bad luck? I know that science tells us that there is nothing to these things but somehow there seems to be a part of human nature to be concerned about the bumps in the night and the noises you cannot find any reason for. So tell me are you superstitious?

No I am not superstitious. I do make the sign of the cross before driving. But I don't consider that as a superstition.

I do not think that making the sign of a cross is a superstition so I think you are fine. I am thinking of practices that survive from the past like knocking on wood, throwing salt over the left shoulder etc. Many people do them without really understanding why or where they come from or what they mean.

I am not a superstitious person. While I don't believe in superstitions, it is amazing the little things I do out of habbit just from growing up around superstitious people.

I agree with that. We do not think of ourselves as superstitious but we do lots of things that ward of curses and jinxed without event thinking about it they have become part of our culture.

I think everybody has a bit of superstition about them. We grow up hearing these things, knock on wood, throw salt over your left shoulder. Mostly we laugh when we do these things, but we still do them so there must be some part of our mind that believes in the sayings.

I agree. We laugh at it and then we do it when we think no one is looking just in case there is something to it and it is best to hedge all your bets.

I don't believe in superstitions but it makes life more fun to Knock on Wood and Throw Salt over your shoulder. I guess I do them more as a game or tradition than a belief. Its like playing make-believe as an adult. Sometimes its fun to pretend there is some magic in the world.

It does make life more fun. I think it is sad that we have lost the magic in life, lost the wonder. Maybe if we had not lost that we would not be destroying our world the way we are. Oh well.

Yes!! I am a bit superstitious. I hate exams and before all exams I pray to God. I also use a single specific pen to write all the examination.

I always hated exams as well. I was always worried I would never remember anything. I am so glad I do not have to do them any more.
