I've been camping plenty of times - I camp out during one of my family reunions every year. But I've never camped out with this many people before - not even in Girl Scouts!
During my 60 mile, 3-Day walk for Susan G Komen for the Cure, we slept in tents for 2 nights. This picture is a tiny peice of the campsite, but it's got my tent in it! I'm not in the picture, and I don't know who these people are that are in it, but you can definitely see a side of my tent. In front of the letter D, you can see the side of my tent (there's someone blocking the rest of it). That's where I spent 2 nights in 50 degree weather, trying to rest up for the rest of my walk. I tell ya, I'm so glad I brought an air mattress! It made a world of difference!
Do you think you would like to camp out after walking about 20 miles a day? It woulda been nice to go to a hotel (some walkers did) but it was a lot of fun back at camp!

Admittedly, I never got to experience going or having a camp out as a kid. Although this was locally translated to us as a 'girlscouts or boyscouts camping', I was never permitted by my guardian (who's my aunt) to take part in this activity. Since I started schooling here in the city as a kindergarten student until I graduated from college, my parents decided to send me here in the city for better education. It was really difficult for me because even if they did visit me several times each year, I still miss them so much that somehow, we have a gap with my other younger siblings.
Anyway, I guess I'd be happy to participate in an adults' camp but since I'm already a married mom now, I feel that I would be happier if I could take my own family along with me. With the activities one could do, I'd definitely love to do the conversations with the campfire.
If the weather out there in your area would not be that cold, I guess I will enjoy camping out, but personally, I'm someone who hates cold weather and easily develops fever during cold months.

For one of my family reunions, we camp out for the entire weekend. It is lots of fun to camp with the whole family. I hope you get to some day.

I would prefer camping with all the other participants. This is such an amazing event and I am so proud of you for doing it.
I'm sure I would have been glad for the air matress too.

Oh, the mattress was a lifesaver! I haven't slept on the ground in probably 5 years and I didn't want to start again now :) I was amazed by the number of people who DIDN'T have an air mattress...

I think it would be fun to stay at the camp with the others. Yes the luxury of the hotel would be nice but I'm sure after such a long day after your crashed you didn't even know if you were at a hotel or not. hahaha The air mattress is the way to do it.

Except for being a little bit chilly - 50 degrees is kinda cold to camp in with no campfire - it felt like a hotel to me! I just needed someplace to sleep :)
