Interesting article I guess there's two ways of seeing this; he could have received the mail and binned it without telling people but he has warned them in advance not to send any mail so hopefully all those that get the message won't and those that do send mail will not know any better about what happened to it..
I suppose he's right in doing this, maybe he gets sack-loads and wonder if his PR warned him about these antics but then bad publicity is good too so...

It must be a big time eater FAN MAIL, I know people who have been in the public eye for a small moment and the fan mail that comes through is huge.

Some of the BIG movie stars have staff to handle that mail as with bands and singers.

When you receive a sack of mail a day, yes it will take time away from you.

Im in two minds here, yes a person has the right to some private life and time and if not doing the fan mail gives it to you then how can that be wrong, the other thought is YOU choose the public life and this is your lot to have FAN MAIL and you as part of that must reply to the fan mail.

Maybe there is another way around this and that is to have some one/s do it for you. And you pay them a fee, Im sure a charity would be happy to do this.
(boy/girl scouts, church groups, soup kitchen, there are a lot out there that could do the job for him).

Yeah, I heard about that. If he didn't want to answer it he just shouldn't answer it. He didn't have to go public and announce it so rudely, and disrespectfully. I thought most celebrities had their PR people answer their fan mail anyways.

I can't imagine what it would be like to try to answer thousands of pieces of mail accumulating every week. I suspect it's just downright overwhelming. It does seem a little strange for him to announce he won't be answering them. I mean, how do other famous people handle this situation? Perhaps they just stop answering.

I would think that some fans would be quite offended at his attitude of announcing he's not going to answer anything else. It might have been better just to stop doing it. Oh well, I guess if there's a backlash from his fans he'll know it by the lack of attendance to his concerts.
