Latinos: do you have a good soup recipe?

My great grandma (from Dominican Republic) use to make this awesome soup with chicken (on the bone), corn on the cob, pumpkin, yucca and other yummy things. I've tried looking it up on various sites - but I find soups that are "latin style" with like taco seasoning. Maybe good but not exactly what I'm looking for. I've had the soup years ago at a friends house also - not as good as my great grandma but it gave me that comfort.... Could anyone help me out - anyone know what I'm talking about?
