OK, I need to know, so I am taking an impromtu poll. I had a discussion with a mother in another discussion who told me that labor pain was literally nothing for her. I consider that very, very lucky and I'm thinking it's a bit of anomaly. It spiked my curiosity.
So my question is, what was your labor and delivery like? All 5 of mine were hell.

Someone can't understand labor pain unless they have experienced it. I am sorry to hear all your five labors were so painful. I was 22 years old when I had my first baby. I had mild contractions all day and then at 10pm strong pain began in the form of powerful contractions every ten minutes at first. My water pool was filled then I got in. The water eased the pain and the gas and air made me feel relaxed. My son was born at home but I had a retained placenta. I was taken to the hospital for it to be removed.
During my second pregnancy at 36 weeks I found out my son would have spina bifida. It was such a shock and I was terrified. I still went ahead with a home birth. Contractions began mildly and were two minutes apart. I am unsure if I was in labor, then the pain went very strong and I laid on my sofa to slow down labor. The midwives arrived and I sat up staying I could feel the head. My son was born and taken to a special care baby unit. He had an operation to close his back the day he was born and two weeks later he had another operation to put a shunt in his head. He is now a happy little 17 month old. I had a two and a half hour labor without any pain relief. My birthing pool was still filling when my second child was born.
Being in water and using gas and air helps the pain. But I am proud to say I have had one labor without any pain relief. I only got 20 minutes of strong pain and the birth was super quick. My sister has had 4 children and her third labor was a painful nightmare sort of event.

I'm not sorry that they were painful. They were all fantastic, healthy babies and all of the pain brought me to such amazing pleasure. My first was my hardest, because his father was a butt head(still is), but my family helped me through. I was suffering from depression and stress before his birth. Seeing his little face made that stress subside. He made me see that I didn't need his sperm donor and the stress that went along with it.
But, unlike some women, I remember every second of the pain, even today.
How is your spinal bifida child doing now?? I hope all is well. You are obviously a great mother.

Being pregnant with my first wasn't that bad up intell the end when my blood pressure went threw the roof. They had me deliver early because they were worried. The labor was pain full and that was with me having epideral. It took me over 17 hours to deliever from the time the induced my labor at 9 aclock. She got so tired that by 2:30am that morning if she was out within the next 20 mins that the were taking her secation but by 2:59 am she was her. Now with my second one. I was in alot of pain carring her. My right leg was getting enough blood to it and it started getting blood clots. She was in my ribs the whole time I was pregnant. I was in alot of pain being pregnant with her but I'd do it all over again. But the labor wasn't fun either I had an epideral and even with that the contractions were so bad that if I dosed off I'd wake up crying because it hurt. But to actually push her out when it was time went really fast. Happy Mylotting!!!!

Hi cyntrow. This woman must be blessed. My wife's delivery was not like that. She was in real pain and we decided that one was more than enough. I guess different people have different experiences of child delivery.
