Chewing Gum in the Workplace!!!  | |  One of my ultimate pet peeves is a person who pops on gum. Where I work gum is like water. People consume so much of it. Now I don't care about folks chewing the gum, its the way they chew it and how they pop it. So chew like cows. You can see what is in their mouth and you can here them chewing across the room. The popping is so aggravating and annoying. I also hate it when people are rude enough to chew it in your ear and face. How do yall feel about gum in the work place? Do you guys have serious poppers? I think it is unprofessional, what about you?

We are allowed to chew gum at work, but there is an understanding that it should not be seen or heard. It shouldn't be that difficult to just keep your mouth shut while chewing.

I do not run into this at my workplace but have known a couple people who chew like a cow - ughhh. If one is in a meeting, I do think it is unprofessional to have gum, even if one is chewing it "correctly". But people who chew with their mouth open - it's just rude. | |

| sweetstuff82 (89) | 1 year ago | I totally agree with you and the others who responded. It is a shame because I have tried listening to music and that doesn't work. You can still hear some chewing and popping. And I can't play my music too loud because it will damage my eardrums. Its weird because there are policies on how loud you can keep you MP3 or IPOD, but no policies on gum. Well, I have to go to work and get through another day of gum.
