Islander Sandals..  email this discussion to a friend?

I forgot that I enlisted this item among products I use.. (^_^")

Well, this one would mostly be known here in our country, the Philippines. Aside from the usual rubber strap and sole, there are also different designs from this brand.

Kind'a affordable and would last a considerable time though, using them on demanding circumstances would give it wear and tear, similar with other brands of course when you over use them.

Well, when I think about it, I can't seem to start anything if I can't find those sandals of mine. I mean, it seems part of my routine to wear them before doing anything. One time, I couldn't find them, probably a brother of mine had to go out and in a rush, just wore mine and went off wherever it was that he was headed. I really couldn't go well with my brother's sandals which were left at home, I mean, it feels different since its been accomodating my bro's feet for a long while, it got molded for his comfort I guess.

How about you guys? Wear sandals at home or anywhere close when your going out? Would go for the branded ones or prefer comfort and ignore the price tag?

Thanks for spending a moment on reading (^_^ )

I love Islander, compared to the new (and expensive) slippers. I have to say that Islander is one durable slippers and it's like a wash and wear slippers. rasp

Their molded ones are rather uneasy for me whenever they get wet, I mean, I let them dry for a while before using them again. Those rubber slippers on the other hand are what I actually think of those wash and wear types (^_^ )

Hmm, I think Ive had only 3 pairs of them all my life. Not at the same time though. Always used Islander slippers. Always in the navy blue color with the strap thats an inch wide..I think. Would only replace them when the soles seem to be too thin. The current one I have is already 2 years old but still doesnt show signs of wear and tear. Then again, I dont use sandals/slippers outside the house that often.

I actually prefer to use rubber shoes whenever Im going out and Im more comfortable running around town, doing errands, or just going to school with my rubber shoes.

As for the brand, I go for a compromise of both comfort and price tag. I wouldnt want to buy anything over the top and I dont go for the trends. As long as the quality and comfort is great and within a reasonable price then Id go for it. That applies more for the shoes though. Like I said, I dont wear slippers that often so I dont mind settling for the cheap ones. Would prefer Islander though since it lasts long...at least in my case.doh

myLot reputation of 99/100. ratyz5 (3638)   ranked 1 out of 2 in islander  4 years ago

Would it be due to the stock available are always blue or its just among your personal preferences when it comes to that kind of slippers? Since you did say that you don't use much of it, I guess it could go longer than those two years (^_^ )

Going 'round town or doing errands wearing rubber shoes seems alright. However, just going to school, you wear rubber shoes? So you have those shoe lockers at school or something like that?

Yeah, the brand is sure well endorsed even by celebrities.. then again, there are also those other brands that I have seen when I was still small.. I think one was Rambo.. really think soled rubber slippers if I recall right..

myLot reputation of 97/100. bjcyrix (3663)   ranked 2 out of 2 in islander  4 years ago

Its a personal preference if the Islander in question would be the same model. Wouldve preferred a black strap on the one that I have right now but it was already out of stock when my friend got back. Its a Christmas gift from her so Im not complaining.^_^

We dont have shoe lockers or any other kind of lockers for that matter. Yep, I wear rubber shoes to school and thats not just PElol. Just more comfortable with rubber shoes than slippers, same as I dont wear shorts even at home.happy

Rambo...sounds familiar (not pertaining to the movies.hehe), think I might recall some faint images on a commercial..

myLot reputation of 99/100. ratyz5 (3638)   ranked 1 out of 2 in islander  4 years ago

Yeah, slippers is a good gift to give, if it fits, surely the one who gets it can use it and the one who gives such a gift won't have to worry if it would be used or not at all.

You happen to wear a school uniform when going to school or its one of those schools that doesn't have requirements like that?

I looked for one and its named RAMBBO, a pair that my nephew couldn't use at all..

myLot reputation of 97/100. bjcyrix (3663)   ranked 2 out of 2 in islander  4 years ago

We do have a school uniform. Wear flat closed black shoes but has an inch thick soles so it could pass up as "heels".hehehe Use the rubber shoes on wash days or whenever I need to go to school for unscheduled submissions:D

myLot reputation of 99/100. ratyz5 (3638)   ranked 1 out of 2 in islander  4 years ago

Okay.. so that's what you meant.. there aren't any schools out there that doesn't insist on uniforms now-a-days.. Though that you were studying somewhere its always wash day.

myLot reputation of 97/100. bjcyrix (3663)   ranked 2 out of 2 in islander  4 years ago

Hehehe wished it was always wash day..then again, Id run out of clothes to use.doh

myLot reputation of 99/100. ratyz5 (3638)   ranked 1 out of 2 in islander  4 years ago

Hehehe, I'd probably be wearing the same thing for three days and another outfit for the rest of the days, interchange the outfit every now and then..

We didn't had wash days at our college though.. seems convenient to have a uniform after all. (^_^ )

myLot reputation of 97/100. bjcyrix (3663)   ranked 2 out of 2 in islander  4 years ago

Would go for interchanging the clothes as opposed to using it on some days straight. At least it sure to be dry after washing after every use.LOL

Well uniforms does have its pros and cons.surrender

myLot reputation of 99/100. ratyz5 (3638)   ranked 1 out of 2 in islander  4 years ago

Pros and Cons, guys uniforms are more versatile compared to those of girl's uniform.. well, just an observation of a classmate of mine way back..

myLot reputation of 97/100. bjcyrix (3663)   ranked 2 out of 2 in islander  4 years ago

Tell me about it!glare Though, had more touble with the pants than the top.tsk3doh

myLot reputation of 99/100. ratyz5 (3638)   ranked 1 out of 2 in islander  4 years ago

You have pants along your uniform?

I thought you'd be wearing those usual skirts.. depends on the course being taken?

One thing I heard about skirts being utilized at school was during exams.. of course, I only heard about it and not actually seen an event that proved its reality..

myLot reputation of 97/100. bjcyrix (3663)   ranked 2 out of 2 in islander  4 years ago

Hehehe, thank goodness our school gave the girls options.lol My eldest sister went to the same university. During her time it was all skirts. Then maybe from then and by the time I got in, they implemented a choice. One of the things that I dont usually wear: skirts.cool Already made my decision to wear pants even before I knew there was an option.^_^

If you're going to ask about elementary and high school, well, it was a semi skirt called culottes skirt. Some people refer to it as "skort", cut like shorts but looks like a skirt so didnt really feel that I was wearing a skirt.^_^

As for kindergarten and on special occasions, of course skirts are quite necessary, couldnt do anything about it. At least I dont remember much in kindergarten and whenever I need to wear skirts/gowns. I always wear shorts underneath.wink

Would've been nice if Id get to wear those kinds of garments with rubber shoes, though, Islander sandals would be quite alright.=D

myLot reputation of 97/100. bjcyrix (3663)   ranked 2 out of 2 in islander  4 years ago

Oops, make that *eldest cousin*.doh

myLot reputation of 99/100. ratyz5 (3638)   ranked 1 out of 2 in islander  4 years ago

So you wouldn't have enrolled in any school if you were required to wear skirts for them, even though the course you want is offered there?

Though I didn't ask, I'm still glad that you mentioned it or else, I wouldn't have anything to reply to and make this post deviat a little from the discussion.

Elementary days reminds me of those school uniforms of my classmates that really resembles those of high shool students.. though, their suspenders that are really connected to their skirts are just suspenders. When they reach high school, their suspenders might look like suspenders infront but, everything is covered at the back. A blouse and that type of suspender-like skirt would be their uniforms.

During our kindergarten, the gilrs wore those all-skirt uniform, same fabric and design with grade and high school. So there's this collar like detail that would probably best be discribed as like to those of sailors and the rest would be the skirt. I guess that's more convenient for them children as well for parents.

My classmate from grade school up to high school wore rubber shoes with her gown during a wedding of a relative of her's. She even uploaded a picture of herself, wearing a helmet, on a dirt bike and rubber shoes on plain view.. (>_< )

myLot reputation of 97/100. bjcyrix (3663)   ranked 2 out of 2 in islander  4 years ago

Hmm, hadnt really thought about it since Ive always set my mind that Im going to this university, regardless whether they were requiring skirt in the uniform or not. Remember was apprehensive about the uniform during senior year. Was pestering my relatives if they really require a skirt or not, think I was already starting to plan a scheme on how I could maneuver around the skirt thing.tsk3

"A blouse and that type of suspender-like skirt" sounds more like my kindergarten uniform. Though, the straps would be crossed at the back.
"this collar like detail" now that sounds more like my elementary through high school uniform. Its too large to be a collar, they seem more like flaps, but 'sailor like' something like that.

Are there any variations with the guys uniforms? or just the girls?confused

Nice, hope her family is cool with her get up.thumbup

myLot reputation of 99/100. ratyz5 (3638)   ranked 1 out of 2 in islander  4 years ago

Well, your already in college and the uniform thing seems not to be an issue for you anymore..

Got to look at some grade schoolers earlier and some high schoolers as well. Their uniforms, no crossed suspenders at their backs. I don't know what to call them anymore as everything is covered at the back while two straps parallel to each other in front for high school girls.

Well, now that you clarified that 'flaps'.. don't know what they are called as well.. was thinking that its near the neck and we guys would often have collars on our uniforms, hence, 'collar like detail' (^_^")

A couple of grades would have buys wear black shorts and later on, be pants as they go up the grades.

Well, the wedding's done and she was able to upload a good number of photos like that so I guess her family respects her decisions right from the start.

myLot reputation of 97/100. bjcyrix (3663)   ranked 2 out of 2 in islander  4 years ago

Hehehe, not really into the terms of clothes either.^_^

Black shorts, hmm, is black one of the school colors? Guys would also wear shorts until 3rd Grade, after that they use pants as well.

myLot reputation of 99/100. ratyz5 (3638)   ranked 1 out of 2 in islander  4 years ago

I guess black fabric for shorts and pants are very abundant so its practical than to try something else, especially with schools that aren't really that top notch to impose on alternative uniforms.. The only distinguishing item would be the school patch..

myLot reputation of 97/100. bjcyrix (3663)   ranked 2 out of 2 in islander  4 years ago

Hmm, the norm around here is khaki or brown pants for guys and shades of blue for girls (skirts or pants). But then again, it all depends on the school's colors.doh

myLot reputation of 99/100. ratyz5 (3638)   ranked 1 out of 2 in islander  4 years ago

I don't know how many times the uniform of the high school that I graduated from had changed but as far as I can recall, neither of the uniforms ever resembled any color significant to the school.. the only dominating color would be the school gates but, that's not really odd..

myLot reputation of 97/100. bjcyrix (3663)   ranked 2 out of 2 in islander  4 years ago

What is the color of your school seal? Its usually taken from there..

myLot reputation of 99/100. ratyz5 (3638)   ranked 1 out of 2 in islander  4 years ago

Black for the lines, green for some tiny leaves and I think stripes of blue and pink...? Not really close to the colors of our uniforms aside from the black..

myLot reputation of 97/100. bjcyrix (3663)   ranked 2 out of 2 in islander  4 years ago

Oh, wow, Id say that would be a pretty colorful school seal.lol I thought the school seals would just have 3 colors at most.doh

Anyway, the black in your uniform would most probably be really taken from the black in the seal. At least they have lots of colors to choose from when they get tired of black.ninja

myLot reputation of 99/100. ratyz5 (3638)   ranked 1 out of 2 in islander  4 years ago

Nah, a change like that would probably rattle parents who have already been enrolling their children in that school. Not so for those new students who just enrolled or got transferred but, local ones would be upset on the change implemented like that..

Black pants seems typical but, it work..

myLot reputation of 97/100. bjcyrix (3663)   ranked 2 out of 2 in islander  4 years ago

If it works, then I guess that's what matters.^_^

I used to have one and it lasted for a really long time. I do hope that these slippers should be more appreciated here than all of those imported flip flops that are almost the same the only difference is the price (because of shipping costs)I always feel comfy when i wear slippers and for me as long as it's comfy cheap ones are ok too.

myLot reputation of 99/100. ratyz5 (3638)   ranked 1 out of 2 in islander  4 years ago

Indeed, a comfortable and durable pair of footwear that goes with a reasonable price tag (^_^ )

Uhmm, you still using an Islander or your now using something else? confused
