How much of your day is spent in seeking & experiencing entertainment?  | | | |  There are a lots of entertainment opportunities around us. Let us count the ways: TV, Movies, Internet, Music, Concert, Computer games, Sports participation, Sports viewing/listening, Radio, Virtual reality, Amusement parks and many more...
We have to admit we grown up in a entertainment obsessed society. But in the Bible Paul reminded the believers who they were and that they needed to be careful about how they built on their lives. Choosing any entertainment that promotes evil is like ingesting sin. It will affect our relationship with God. So we must be choosy & stingy in entertainment selections. Now here's my question to you-- How much of your day is spent in seeking & experiencing entertainment? Are you not bothered with it? and why?

| |  As a college student, my days are pretty busy. But, as you can see from your list above, no one has to spend much time seeking entertainment. It's all around us. I am a big fan of entertainment, I hate being bored, and I'm not bothered by that. It keeps me active. Yes it can be bad for some people, being entertained by the tv and internet, you get lazy and fat. But for me, entertainment is also spending time with friends, bike riding, hiking, that kind of thing. I don't think it's bad to want to enjoy life and the things available to us.
You also have to be careful when referencing the Bible that you are not taking it out of context. Since it's not cited, I'm not sure what verse you are referring too, but I'm assuming Paul was probably talking more along the line of what these people were giving their lives to. In Paul's letters, he mostly was dealing with churches and communities given to idol worshipping and false prophets, so I don't think it is appropriate to compare that to seeking entertainment. Yes, there are people who it can be said that they worship entertainment, but that is a very small percentage of people and you would have to ask them a different type of question.

| | hello myself_wheniamreal...It's good thing you have enjoyed your life by means of entertainment. Actually it's not bad as you do it in moderation. By the way I just use Paul as example as He taught about practicality of life. And here's my reference--In 1 Corinthians 3:12-13 he said "If a man builds on this foundation [Jesus Christ] using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, his work will be shown for what it is, because the day will bring it to light." Entertainment can be "straw." It can robs us of opportunities to touch lives and uses up precious time for real service and ministry. But I'm not saying entertainments are bad.
