Voting based on race...

A lot of people are talking about people voting for candidates based solely on race, specifically, the current US presidential race between Barack Obama and John McCain. So is it true? Are people voting for Barack because he is black? Are they voting against him because he is black? I'd like to think that in this day and age, something as silly as this wouldn't take place, but I hear an awful lot about it. Would you ever vote for a specific candidate solely because of his race???

Sorry to say but YES some people will be voting because of race not on the issues. This is what the people who are backing Obama wanted. They have used this election to push the color of his skin in everyones' face. Then they sent representatives out to towns that were mostly black to try to get more black people who have never voted or haven't bothered to vote in years to register to vote.(ACORN) I have even heard people say they wont vote for him because he is half black. And some blacks wont vote for him because they have seen him play the black card when he is not all black. If we were all blind then we would see the truth and vote on what our country needs not just on race. I fear we have been played and this country and it's people will have to pay dearly when this election is over. Vote because of race???? I hope people , both black and white, can see the truth and vote for who we think is best for our country.

Very true Kowgirl. Its a shame that it can come down to something like raec, but it looks like for a lot of people it will.

I believe most people will set aside the race issue, however I know of a couple of white women who say they will never vote for a black person. When I was in the military I had both black and white friends, somehow the race issue didn't enter the picture. We were all in it together and we all went about our jobs. Kowgirl why do you fly the flag upside down?
