Discovering common interests with my niece.

During a family birthday party I had the change to chat with my 25 year old niece. She is almost finished with school and is very excited. Perhaps it is because she is getting older and I see her more as an adult now but we got to talking and I discovered she has a passion for writing. I share that same passion. I know her mom, my sister, has never been a avid reader and writing is not something she would encourage as a career choice. I have always been a reader and thrive on discovering new authors to explore. This is so exciting that I finally have something to bond with my niece over. Only one of my own five children is a reader like me. There was another but she has drifted from the path. I have hopes that she will pick the hobby back up again. Actually to me it is far more than a mere hobby.
