What painting medium do you use, is it oil color, water colors, etc? |
| |
| Well, I know how to use many different mediums such as oil paints, acrylic, water color, pastel and crayons, etc. But, I generally prefer oils and acrylics since they're easy to use and it's easy to correct the mistakes that you've made unlike, the water colors and pastel that may damage your painting surfaces. And also because I love the emotions that oils and acrylics can give to my works. Though, I admit that the oils could be harmful to our lungs, since it contains harmful materials such as zinc. So if you can't use oils you may use acrylics which is safe. So, what do you prefer is it oils, acrylic, pastel, water colors? and why? | | | | | |

| | but when im in high school i like to used oil pastel coz i like the way i blend it with the other color. i dont used like all of you use like turpentine etc. i only used "basahan" in english "cleaning cloth" i wipe it gently like a floor wax. and about crayons hehehe when i was in grade school my classmates and i like to draw cartoons and places we only used crayons but we decided to create a new trick with it and poof we wipe crayons in paper very hard like its gonna brake into 2. then we scrape it with ruler so that it will look shinny and blend nice. but now i like to use poster color. | | | |

| | i use poster color and dissolve it with water to be like wash out effect but i solid color technique to all of my paintings i dont like blending its makes my masterpiece a mess. and i use thick and pointed brush i dont like to use soft and rounded brush coz i can control it. my former classmates said to me that i can make a back ground like animated film but in reality i only like to paint whats on my mind and the color of it. painting is like a artist diary it express whats on the mind of the creator and the beauty of its imagination. | | | | | | |

| | Well, it's the opposite for me, I love blending of colors. You're right. Paintings comes from the imaginations and feelings of an artist. | | | |

| | I started by using water colors, I liked that, but then I discovered acrylics and that has been my favourite ever since. I might use watercolors again in future, because I used to like them. Now I use acrylics all the time, but I like to experiment and to mix the paint with different materials like paper, sand or coffee grounds. Sometimes the mistakes that I make create the best painting and sometimes my mistakes "force" me to find new and creative solutions. I have never tried oil colors, but I am interested in trying them in the future. | | | | | | |

| | I don't paint and I am not knowledgeable about paintings but recently, one of our local television stations featured different painting mediums. Most popular among the unique painters they featured is the man from Baguio City, Philippines. I have heard about this painter before who uses magnifying glass plus sun rays to paint. He allows the sun rays to pass through the magnifying glass and burns the image in the the wood he is using as canvass. Another one is a guy from the countryside who makes use of burned garlic for painting. He can't afford to buy oil, acrylic or other medium so he deep fried until burned cloves of garlic for his painting. Most recently featured is an aspiring artist who uses clay to paint. He allows the clay harden on the canvass he have chosen. The clay marks creates beautiful impressions. Well, their works only has black, gray, brown colors but they made very good pieces of art. Their ingenuity may have caught the people's attention initially but their painting talents made them to shine more. | | | | | | |

| | Though I don't defy myself being a visual artist, whenever I do projects I prefer to wrok with an oil pastel though it's kind of messy. I enjoy smudging colors. Haha! | | | | | | |

| | There are many mediums where an artist can create wonders..but i generally prefer Pencil shading(Black and white) since its very challenging that you can do excellent work with only limited shades and make it like a real photograph. I also love to do with oils since they are very flexible to correct and give different textures and effects for your painting.. | | | | | | |

| | I have a question for you because I found one you as the best in this field. I would like to know how important colors in our life. As you said black and white shadings or some thing were without colors right. Why artists do paintings? for their interests or to give message to society, It may be personal but its gift by god to them.. | | | |
