How long is it?  

I think the longest one comes from 1981 with one of the boys from my swimming team at that time. That's 27 years already. A long time. I also come one from friend since I was a child but living in different cities and sometimes different countries we are not in contact so often.

Hehe my longest friendship that's still going is almost 20 years like yours. I was living in Birkenhead and I went to Art College where I met her. I remember that the first day us new students were nervous and sitting in the class silently waiting for the teacher to arrive. Marty walked in and lit up the room, she had everyone relaxed and talking immediately, she really broke the ice.

Because she lives miles away I haven't seen her for a long time but we support each other through emails and the phone.

Oh a story about it: A group of us that used to hang around because we were in the same classes were in the canteen and I'd taken my camera in so I took photos and someone took some with me in. I'd been out of touch with Marty for several years and when we got emailing I sent here the photos.

She'd met her hubby Vinnie at College so I knew him but I had a real surprise when she got back to me and said he was standing in the background of one of them! We hadn't know him then. It's really ace because they didn't have any photos of them at College.

Wow! 20 years that is a long time my friend and impressive. Sadly because I have moved so many times in my life I have lost a lot of friends, either we have drifted apart or because I have moved that addresses have been lost. I do have a special friendship with a girl who is 20 who I met at college, when I did my NVQ3 in childcare, I was 32 and I was in a class of 16 year olds at the time and it was very daunting but she showed me kindness and befriended me and for that alone I was entirely grateful, it is totally platonic and she has proved to be a very beautiful friend, she still sends me homemade birthday and Christmas cards, when I left my ex I moved away from her but we still keep in contact through sending cards and texts etc. We always watch the Harry Potter films together it's become tradition and I am hoping to meet up with her before Christmas, it does mean stepping onto my old stamping ground but her friendship means too much not to see her, I miss her and haven't seen her since I moved out last October, it's been too long and I hope to remedy that very soon.

My oldest friend I first met when I was 7 Humbug. That's 43 years ago! We don't see each other very often but when we do we pick up like we last saw each other yesterday. Unfortunately he couldn't be my best man, but my other friend who I have known for only 26 years stood in! We went to his 50th last year and he doesn't look a year older. Even scarier is that his mother, who is in her late 70s, still looks like she's in her 50s!

So very nice for you to have your good friend living in the same town.

My friendship is now about 25 years old. We met on the first day of high school. Two little girls, both wandering around, lonely and miserable on the first lunch hour of the first day.

We remained firm friends all through our schooling and through our working life. Unfortunately she lives in England and I live here, but thanks to email and the ability to send photographs, we are still constantly in touch with each other.

well you met my good friend earlier, I met her when her son was just a baby and he's 18 now and as the years have passed we seem to have gotten closer, she's moved all over the place but we have always stayed in close contact.

My longest friendship is about 35 years. I met her the summer we moved to this particular town. I was going into sixth grade, I think. I was baby sitting for one of my neighbors, and she was baby sitting for another neighbor. The kids were just being kids, yelling at each other, and what not. One of them picked up a rock and threw it at another one. We got our respective kids in the houses, went back outside and yelled at each other over a little picket fence, about who's fault it all was.
Well, when school started guess whose desk was right next to mine in first period?

We both apologized to each other, and became the best of friends. My kids even called her aunt, when they were young.

I still see her occasionally, when we can catch up with each other. But, we stay in touch by phone, still, too.

My longest and strongest friendship is over 41 years old. We met in elementary school. We have lived 400 miles apart for most of those year's but we've managed to stay as close as if were living next door to each other.

My longest friendship is of course with my wife. known her for 29 years and married to her for 28 years. BEsides her i hardly have any friends of long standing. My dad was ina transferabvle job and then i gotr into a transferavble job soi have not stayed in one place for more than 2-3 years. in 52 years i maust have stayed in some 23 places. Before a good friendship could develop, we were packign and moving off.

Still i have made some very good friends though hardly stay in touch with them for a while after moving off and then they merge into the back ground

I have a friend with whom I have made for nearly 20 years. We knew each other when we went into college. After our graduation, we didn't contact with each other for several years. Once we met again, we have been friends all the times. Now,we often call or visit each other. If I have something trouble problem, I will ask her. So does she. Last night, she came to me and we had a long talk.
