And MAN!! Does my head HURT!! You better believe it!! Hubby and I were working in the woods in our back yard clearing it of the debri that's overgrown back there and want to make it liveable but wooded. There's this dead tree, not very big about 7 feet tall but very thin so I go to knock it down and it has these long roots and hubby is watching me be a "tuffy" lol and I turned it each way and still couldn't break it loose so I turned to hubby and told him to take it down his way and he grabbed it and at the same time I (stupid me!! ) see a golf ball and reach down to get it for Jimmy's friend and the branch that hubby had had snapped and the tree came back up and hit me square in the face!! It hit me on my forehead and across my nose!! I thought I was going to pass out but hubby kept talking to me to keep me with him and I had to sit down to get my bearing back. Whew!! I've got a big ole knotty bruise on my forehead and a lumpy bruise on my nose!! Both hurt some kind of bad tonight but sheesh!! How stupid can I get? Why did I have to see that darned golf ball at the worst time and why did I go after it?? DUH!! I had one of those REAL blonde moments people!! lol I'll even admit, I don't know what I was thinking but I did learn a vauable lesson.... Never completely trust your husband with your life!! ROFLMAO!!!!By the way, that's the second time he got me in the forehead either! The first time we collided and I got 5 stitches!! Go figure that!?!? Since my head is hurting so much, I'll give an update tomorrow some time. I know some of you have to be wondering what's going on with me.... aren't you? LOL

OUCH!!!!!! That sounds like a big one. We all have blond moments even when we are not blond. This past summer I had a doozy of a blond moment. I am big on telling people not to lay down a garden rake with the tines up, you step on it and the rake will smack you in the face, ouch. Well I was using the rake, I sort of swung the rake in front of me, but kept the tines on the ground, as I did that I took a step. I stepped on the tines. The rake snapped back and hit me in the face. I saw stars, had a goose egg and a bruise on my forehead. That hurt, I also felt really dumb. Of course the neighbor just had to be outside and witness it. I hope your head feels better soon. Its nice to see you and have nothing more serious happening then a sore head. I have recently got back from a trip with my mom, we went to Virginia to see my sister and her family. Its nice to be back home and sleeping in my own bed. The trees were so pretty in the mountains.

Could you imagine the three of us having our bruises at the same time and appearing in public. No one would believe our hairbrained stories of how we got our injuries, lol. I live in Ohio, my sis lives in Victoria, Virginia its south of Farmville. She lives way back in the country.

Hi Polly... this is off-topic, but I just wanted to say that I live in Virginia in the mountains. You are so right about the trees! I was just noticing them while I was out shopping yesterday. They are turning absolutely gorgeous! I'd say another week and they'll be at their peak. I'll try to get some pictures and post them here. Oh, and stay away from rakes! LOL

Hey, guys! I live in Winchester... in that pokey up part of Virginia in the northern-most area. I bought a house in Halifax County, VA (called 'Cedar Creek'), just a few miles from the NC border. I'm getting it ready to sell now because I've found my perfect home here in Winchester. Wanna buy a double-wide on 3 beautiful, flat acres of land? Cheap! Only $60,000.00 and it was appraised 2 years ago at $67,000.00!!! It's now worth about $95,000.00. Anyway, I once lived in Crewe, VA... a tiny town just outside of Blackstone. It was nice, but way tiny! Nothing there! Winchester is so nice... in the Shenandoah area in the heart of the mountains. It's a rapidly growing town that has everything you could possibly want. We live outside the town, deep in farm country. I love it here! We're only about 8 miles from a town with a mall, a university, every restaurant you could think of, movie theaters, etc.; even has two Sonics!!! But, we're far enough out so traffic is very light and we rarely ever hear sirens or see police. Crime simply does not exist here! (Knock on wood!)

Oh Boy Cats sweety I am really worried about you now! That sounds really painful! I hope that hubby spent all of yesterday and today pampering you and making sure you had fresh ice packs, drinks, food etc. Silly you but you know what - these things are so easy to do , I think the only reason that i am not doing as many of these silly accidents is that I can't move around very much and really can't bend down - see limited mobility has its advantages! lol Hugs and hope you feel better! xxx

Oh my goodness...The first person I thought about while logging into my e-mail was you...and guess what? You were the top e-mail.....I'm glad because I was so worried about you... I know what my husbands eye looks like after fighting with the grill, I can just imagine your face after getting pounding by a tree..... You poor thing...Make sure you take it extremely easy...You probably should get to the doctor...Don't bend over that will just make things worse...Lie down and keep the ice on you... Super Hugs this time (((((((((((((((((((((((((Cats))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))xo

Actually the worst of the pain was last night. It kept getting worse and worse and I took an 800 motrin and had an ice pack on my face all night which helped. Hubby woke me up every so often to be sure I was ok. Today my face is swollen, I have two black eyes and a little bit of a headache but I'll be ok. Hugs to you too sweetie!

Wow, that had to hurt..And the reason you did that is understandable.. When we used to burn wood in the winter, I would hold myself back from collecting already cut wood near my husband in between him using the chainsaw, because if he doesn't know where I am, I could get hurt bad..And I learned this lesson the easy way..(I know rare, but it happens) A couple we know, when they first bought their property, they were clearing out wood and the husband had a chainsaw..Since both were working and not paying attention, the husband accidentally got the wife on the rear end.. She didn't feel pain, but felt something wet..So since I heard that story, whether it is chainsaws,an ax,or just using your hands, cutting up wood is dangerous..

Awww, I really feel for you..If you can, I suggest you take some asprin and some ice packs and take it easy today..

I completely understand your reasoning!! lol I used to live in a house that was heated by a wood stove and helped my fiance at the time to split the wood with an ax. It is very dangerous. Even the ax itself can come off the wooden handle! I've had that happen to me once and it made me wonder about the "making them safer" problem. Since then we got a log splitter which was much safer but getting the thing in was the hard part. Anyway, now I'm sporting a swollen face, two black eyes and a little bit of a headache. lol

Hey catsanddogs! I sure hope you're feeling better! You are really lucky that nothing really worse happened! Are you sure that your nose isn't broken? It might be! If you wake up with black eyes better get to the hospital! I feel so bad, I know how that must have hurt! I'm pretty accident prone myself so I have been hit in the face many times by falling object or walking into objects face first! So I am a pro at knowing how things can be when it comes to strange ways to get injured!

You really should get checked out by a doctor! I think your nose might be broken and you might have a slight concussion. Head injuries are nothing to take lightly!

I'm doing a little better tonight, my head still hurts but it's not banging inside like it was. On the outside I have a nice goose egg and a couple of scratches on my forehead and on my nose it's red and blue with a few scratches but dang, those two hurt like hell! lol

Your story reminds me of my late step dad. One time him and I where out in the driveway and we where doing something to the car I don't remember what and we had a garage door that didn't accordian it was the old fashioned kind that just pulled up and you pushed it and it would go to the top of the garage. Well our garage door was stuck and it would only go up a few feet so you had to duck in order to walk into the garage, well my step dad forgot and he went to go into the garage and hit his forehead so hard he saw stars LOL he turns around to me with this big black mark on his forehead and says I think I'm gonna go lay down.....I never laughed so hard in my life he was always hurting himself in some silly way. LOL I do miss him a lot.

He must've been a great man to have you missing him like you do. That's really remarkable! He must've been a clutzy comic. You know, we need more of those kinds around us for they do make us laugh..... well, as long as they're not hurting, it's ok to laugh!! LOL

I think we've all had moments like that at one time or another, I know I have..lol. I've done some stupid things too, and afterwards I always felt stupid and I gripe at myself for it, you know, why did you do that?lol. Well I hope your doing alright and don't have some kind of concussion or anything, luckily you didn't need any stitches this time. Good luck...

Oh yeah, the lessons we learn in our lifetimes. lol We've got to laugh at ourselves for we know better but in times of absense of the mind, we do stupid things. lol But we've got to laugh at ourselves and ask "Can I say duh?!" LOL

At least you have somebody else to blame. True, if you hadn't stopped to pick up that golf ball it wouldn't have happened, but. . . It would have been worse if you'd been pushing pulling and tugging then turned loose and it smacked you. It'd be your fault. Sorry for laughing, I know it's hurts, but I've slapped myself across the head so many times with tree branches I can laugh about it after the fact. Every time I mow under a tree with a low hanging branch and it slaps me, I just try to be thankful it wasn't a wild rose bush.

I am sorry this happened to you. I hope you get better. You learn from your mistakes, next time you ask someone to get a tree to come down for you get out of the way. And if there is something you want get it after they have done what they have to do. Tell Hubby to lay off the head too. Since this is the second time. I know that hurt. I was going to work in my yard today I think I will pass it up. Guess what I bought, and electric chain saw imagine how much damage I can do.

Oh my!! Be careful with that chain saw!! They can do a lot of damage!! lol I used to cut down trees with a guy that I dated. He had a wood stove and we had a lot of fun cutting down trees! lol But one has to be really careful with those things because gosh, if they can cut down a tree, imagine what they can do to you!! I love working in the yard especially when under so much stress as I have been lately. It really helps to relieve the stress and anxiety by working hard. We're clearing the wooded area in our back yard so it can be nice and useable for our pets. There's so much that needs doing that it'll take a year or more to get it cleaned up like we want it.

Ouch! Gosh I hope you are ok by now, that had to hurt bigtime! If you get dizzy or have a major headache you may have a slight concussion too!! Its sure easy enough to hurt ourselves at home and doing things!! If you feel queasy too I'd say for sure you've got a concussion...OUCHIE!!!! take care ok???

I had one hell of a headache last night and I took an 800 motrin and laid down with an ice pack and still couldn't find relief. Finally I fell asleep and hubby woke me every so often to be sure I was ok. I'm doing better tonight, it doesn't pound in my head as bad and the outside is all red and blue. lol

Lol! What a way to go. Getting hit by a tree by your husband. Anyway it is better than getting hit by the golf ball you were tryingto pcik up. Imagine if the golf ball had been hit by a golfer and it had coem hit you on your forehead. i dred to imagine what woudlo have happened. Once whuile playing golf, one of my balls went an dhit a retired old man on the back. he collapsed on the spot and did not gt up for 15 minutes. i was really scared for a while but he recovered. he had a severe pain for nearly a month.

I wouldn't want to know what would've happened! I think it's quite obvious what would've happened by seeing that old man that YOU hit!! LOL Poor guy!! You must've hit that ball pretty darned hard!! To be honest, I'm not sure which would've been worse, the tree or the ball. Both hurt... my head still hurts from the darn tree!

hi hope that you would be better now. I would suggest you to got hospital so that it is checked that there is no injury inside the head or your nose is fine or that there is no injury in eyes better not to take any chance. As I had same sort of accident way back 5 - 6 years ago now I am having problem in my one eye and the doctors say that it is due that accident if I would had taken care at that time then it would not have happened , now nothing can be done. so I suggest don't take chance. And I pray for you to God that every thing is fine.

OOOOh, I am so sorry to hear about your accident. But don't feel bad, we all have our blond moments from time to time. If your clumsy like me, you have them more often than most people. I say, you should invest in some come of accident insurance. I got some kind of thing from my bank a while ago that stated that if I signed up for it and paid like twenty dollars a month, I could get $100 every time I went to the emergency room. If I had signed up for it, they would have surely been broke in a years time, so I spared them the humiliation. Take a pain pill and get some rest. Give us an update when you are feeling better.
