How Much Money Have You Lost?

I have lost a total of $1300+ dollars in my 401K. I called my 401K provider Friday and put my money in a stable investment. They said if the stock goes up I will not gain. I told them gaining right now isn't an option it is losing that I am worried about. I don't know that much about those things all I know is that my 401K was decreasing rapidly. I lost a total of $1100 in one day, went back up $600 the next and back down $400 the next. After that I said no more if I can help it.

My 401-K investment is still small because I just started last year. I am just two years old in terms of working here in the US. So far, I have already lost about 200 USD. For me, that's already big, considering that I only put in 5% of my paycheck. My sister, who is a physician, already lost 10,000 USD the last time she checked. It is actually advisable to NOT keep on looking into the account because the stocks are falling and the amount must have definitely declined a lot. It would just be depressing. According to those who are experienced, in the end, everything will still be a 'gain'. Those who have problems are actually those who are about to retire because the economy is really bad at this time.

None. I was never fortunate enough to have enough money to open one or work for a company that offered one. Hate to say it but in a way this recession has not effected me to much. Gas was a killer, but I have had limited income and have been frugal and penny pinchers and doing it for years - it is a way of life for me. Did without when we had to, never had it to loose. We have fought with unemployment for 30 years. This last year, my husband just got the best job he has ever had in his 60 years of life. ANd we are doing what we have always done - saving during the feast times so that we can eat during the famine times.
