Curriculum for English in Elementary School  

I'm an English teacher at a training center. I teach grammar to students of Grade 6. The English education here is less pratical, it's more exam-oriented. So many students are good at taking exams but weak in speaking and listening. I've never been abroad, so I've got no idea of the education in other countries, particularly in English-speaking countries. I've browsed the websites of several elementary schools in the UK, but they only refer to the subjects. How do the teachers teach the students? And what do they teach them? I'd appreciate if you can tell me about, like listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar, and text books. Thank you in advance.
