Should men and women receive the same prize money in sports competitions?

Should there even be separate competitions for them?
Most of the tennis tournaments now pay the same prize money for men and women - even though the men's grand slams are best of 5 sets, whilst the women's are best of three. Is this fair? why have two separate competitions? What do you think?

i dont think so, rates looks fine, and any raise will create more problems than appreciation.
